Pennsylvania Destination Wedding Photographer | Hope & Josh

    Pennsylvania Destination Wedding Photographer

We were so excited when Hope and Josh contacted us to be their Pennsylvania Destination Wedding Photographer . We know Josh because he is the brother of a local fellow photographer, and we were thrilled that she referred Mulberry & Sage Photography for the job to travel and photograph their wedding in Pittsburgh.

Josh and Hope’s day was gorgeous from start to finish. We started with a first look at a great little park down the road from the venue. Josh and Hope had their first look under a gazebo by a huge pond, and it was just as scenic as it was moving. We caught Josh wiping away a few tears seeing Hope in her gorgeous wedding gown. We walked around the park for bridal party photos and finished with photos of just Josh and Hope. Those are our favorites. Getting brides and grooms a few moments alone to relax and enjoy each other on their wedding day is part of our expertise.

The ceremony & reception took place at The Fez, and from the moment you stepped inside, you got swept away by the glitz and glam. Their colors were black and gold, and the theme was carried beautifully throughout the venue. The ceremony was short and sweet and then it was on to party. The DJ had everyone on the dance floor all night. It was such a fun atmosphere!

Josh & Hope were absolutely made for each other. They share the same humor and interests, and ,quite literally, make each other stronger. We feel like it’s worth mentioning a 3rd equation to their relationship, and that is bodybuilding. Currently, Josh is training Hope for her next competition, and they have plans to make it to the pro circuit very soon. You may have noticed the doughnut bar? Those were there specifically for Josh. He just loves food- especially Crispy Creme’s. That is why he said he will gladly be training versus competing in this round.

After all, they say find a partner who shares the same passion as you and do it together- and they have.  #SoulMatesForLife

We hope you enjoy this small preview into when we were Josh & Hope’s Pennsylvania Destination Wedding Photographer. Please feel free to leave some loving comments below. If you’re in the market for a Pennsylvania Destination Wedding Photographer, we’d love to chat with you!

Destination Wedding Photographer | Jay & Lisa

    Destination Wedding Photographer

James (Jay) & Lisa were married in Hocking Hills Ohio at Crocketts Run, and we were so excited when they hired Mulberry & Sage to be their destination wedding photographer. The wedding was more like a vacation for the guests; the fun started Friday with canoeing and hiking in Old Man’s Cave. The resort had multiple cabins on site so it was perfect for family friends to relax and enjoy the weather and scenery, all while being able to walk to the lodge where the venue was. It’s the perfect location for 2 families joining together and celebrating a marriage.

The whole atmosphere was so incredibly laid- back, and it helped that they included lots of friends to help them with their day, from hair and makeup, officiant, music, & even photography (Courtney has known Lisa for at least 10 years now; she was her sister’s roommate in college, and they always joked she was the dark haired version of her sister, because they are so alike in personality. They also dub her their “5th sister.”) The officiant had a funny story, because he is a long time friend and neighbor, and Lisa gave him the choice to stay home and watch all her farm animals while she was away, or get certified to marry them. It was his first wedding. His wife played the guitar and sang beautifully for the ceremony and their first dance.

Lisa brought all the rustic decorations with her from home,  and needed 4 trucks/SUV’s to get it all to the location. She even brought the whiskey barrels, and hand-stained all the lanterns on the table. Her bridesmaids also helped her assemble all the bouquets the morning of the wedding.

Lisa wore white Birkenstock sandals with her dress, and they came in handy as we hiked through the caves for the bride and groom portraits.

Jay and Lisa had a first look, which she called the ‘wow moment’ that we want to steal for all our clients now. She had no idea, but was delivered a 3 page letter right before seeing Jay, that he wrote, telling her all the reasons he was excited to marry her. The cabin we posed in front of was from the late 1800’s & was the original cabin at the now-resort.

Jay was born a city guy and from the suburbs, but we all knew he was right for Lisa when he didn’t hesitate to jump into the farming lifestyle together with her. They have a wide variety of animals that he shares the workload and responsibility for. He even owns his very own Carhartt now, and we all agree that he is a certified “country boy” from all the experiences Lisa introduced him too.

Lisa’s daddy/daughter dance was super cute because what started as a dance between the two of them quickly turned into a family affair when, one by one, her 2 sisters, brother and mother jumped in to join them. Her dad looked so proud, and it was the sweetest moment.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Lisa and Jay’s big day. If you’re in the market for a destination wedding photographer, we’d love to chat with you!

Port Huron Backyard Wedding Photographers | Brooke & Mike

    Port Huron Backyard Wedding Photographers

We feel like we use the term “backyard wedding” loosely when we describe Mike and Brooke’s amazing and intimate wedding in August. Brooke and Mike contacted Mulberry & Sage Photography to be their Port Huron Backyard Wedding Photographers for their carnival themed wedding happening in Mike’s Dad’s backyard on the Black River. The carnival theme really fit their personalities, because they are both super laid-back, and fun loving.

Mike and Brooke had a private vow ceremony before their ceremony, and read each other their amazing vows in private, and in front of a really cool (and photogenic!) shed that Mike helped his dad custom build. Brooke also had a first look reveal with her Dad, and it was so sweet and heartfelt, we literally were tearing up behind the camera.

Even though their bridal party was large, they were all very fun, and we could immediately tell that they each had a very special connection with the bride and groom. They were so fun, and we wanted to stay all night long and party along with them! Their families also blended perfectly, and everyone got along perfectly and it was all very easy to capture some great photos that we know they will all cherish.

The carnival theme was very unique; it was a bright and colorful theme that was executed perfectly. It was bright and cheery every where you looked, from the bright colored flowers, to the pinwheel groomsmen boutineers, to the centerpieces (candy and colorful hand dipped mason jars), to the ceremony arbor ( a popcorn balloon arch.) The dance floor was awesome too; it was situated between 3 large circus tents and strung with a million tiny twinkling lights above it. They brought in games like skeet-ball, as well as a caricature artist, drawing guests portraits. They had a popcorn and candy bar too. And the food? Probably some of the best BBQ we’ve ever had.

We loved being Mike & Brooke’s Port Huron Backyard Wedding Photographers, and hope you enjoy this small preview into their fun and love-filled wedding day. If you’re in the market for a wedding photographer in Port Huron, Michigan, we’d love to chat!

Black River Country Club Wedding Photographer

Back in July, we had the opportunity to hang out with Mike and Danielle, and be their Black River Country Club wedding photographer for the day. We have to start out by saying that the day was seriously the most perfect and quintessential summer time day for Eastern Michigan. It was in the low 70’s, and beautifully sunny, with a slight breeze coming off the river. We couldn’t have dreamed up a more beautiful day, weather wise, and also for the wedding.

Black River Country Club was the perfect venue fit for their wedding theme, which was Disney inspired. Danielle was so creative, and hid Mickey Mouse throughout her bouquet, cake, tables, ring boxes…seriously every where. Mike had his own theme as well; super villains. They were mildly obsessed with carrying on their own unique theme, and it gave for lots of funny photos and candid moments captured.

Their officiant was one of Mike’s best friend, who flew in from overseas (on a 16 hour flight) and he performed the ceremony on absolutely no sleep. The ceremony ended up being perfect, and knowing their officiant was a super special memory that they’ll have forever.

The Black River Country Club was very kind, and let us borrow some golf carts to use for the day, so we could really explore their beautiful property and utilize it fully for some stunning photos. We loved riding around, and had some hysterical moments with the golf carts, as well as some semi-reckless driving. In fact, at one point, all the villain groomsmen grabbed Mike, shoved him in a golf cart, and sped away. It was a pretty funny kidnapping. (Don’t worry, they brought him back in one piece.)

We hope you love this small preview into Mike & Danielle’s Black River Country Club  wedding.

If you’re in the market for a professional wedding photographer in Port Huron, we’d love to chat with you! In the meantime, make sure to check our portfolio for more examples of our work.

  • St. Clair County Engagement Session | Liz & Brandon’s “Picnic”

St. Clair County Engagement Session | Liz & Brandon’s “Picnic”

    St. Clair County Engagement Session

Liz and Brandon are probably one of the coolest couple’s we’ve ever met. They contacted us to do their St. Clair County Engagement Session, and tossed around the idea with us that they kind of wanted to have it picnic themed. We searched down the perfect location for their session in St. Clair County, which is a beautiful overlook with a mountainous vibe, practically begging to be the most beautiful backdrop for engagement photos.

When Liz and Brandon popped out of their car with their adorable picnic basket, and vase of flowers, our heart literally skipped a beat. Everything was perfect, and we loved that she added in some minor props that really made her vision come to life. What we didn’t realize though, is that the most important and vital part of their picnic was their craft beer. It’s something meaningful and fun to them, and a hobby that they both enjoy together. So naturally, it turned an average engagement session into a customized and unique portrait session that showcases them, and who they are. And who doesn’t love a beer themed picnic on top of a ravine?

We love being St. Clair County wedding photographers, and really encourage all our future bride and grooms to book an engagement session with us prior to their wedding date. It really gives us the opportunity to get to know the couple, before the added stresses of the actual wedding date. We find that if we do an engagement session first, we walk in to the wedding as “friends” rather than strangers, and that makes everything on the wedding day way less awkward and weird for everyone.

We hope you love this small preview into Liz & Brandon’s super fun St. Clair County Engagement Session. Feel free to leave them some love in the comment section below.
