Marlette Plantation Place Wedding Barn Photographer

We just want to start by saying there is nothing better than a couple really appreciates the photography at their wedding. Jennifer & Brad  contacted us before they were even ‘officially’ engaged because that’s how badly they wanted to book us. It was the biggest compliment ever!! We were so excited to finally celebrate with them at their wedding on October 7th, and be their Marlette Plantation Place Wedding Barn Photographer.

The whole event took place at the Plantation Place Wedding Barn; one of our favorite locations! The venue is so great because it makes the day even more relaxing when there is no traveling between the ceremony & reception and all the photos are able to be done right on site.  Jennifer got ready in the farm house with her girls while Brad and his guys got ready in the old milk house. The farm house is exactly as you would picture it, with a wide front porch and welcoming layout. The milk house is rustic and casual. The grounds are a photography dream come true, and a perfect blend of manicured garden, yet wild beauty is still evident everywhere.

Jennifer & Brad wanted to wait until the ceremony to see each other but we loved capturing a gift exchange orchestrated but their bridal party. Jennifer gifted Brad a beautiful watch inscribed with “I love you more every second” that made us swoon. Brad got Jennifer a gorgeous pair of new cowboy boots that she wore down the aisle (with flat Bradley attached!) The ceremony itself went off without a hitch and they sealed the deal by literally tying the knot. A fisherman’s knot; one of the strongest there is.

The whole reception was just so upbeat and fun! Brad & Jennifer had one of the most uniquely talented DJ’s we’ve seen. Rodney describes himself as a violinist first, and he spent the night mixing radio hits with his talented violin playing. Our absolute favorite was when he played ‘Wagon wheel’ and had everyone clapping and singing along.

We loved being Jennifer & Brad’s Marlette Plantation Place Wedding Barn Photographer, and hope you enjoy this small preview into their rustic, fun-filled wedding day on the farm!

If you’re looking for a professional photographer in Eastern Michigan, we’d love to connect with you.

Professional Port Huron Photographer | Jenny & John

    Professional Port Huron Photographer

Last weekend, we spent the evening exploring Beard’s Hill with Jenny and John, being their Professional Port Huron Photographer. Jenny and John met when they were in high school, and have been together ever since. They have a super fun and goofy relationship with each other, and we loved being able to capture it and document their playfulness during their engagement photography session.

Fall in Michigan is a favorite of ours. While we love being on the beach during the ultra-hot days of summer, there is just something special about putting on a cozy sweater and stepping outside into the brisk fall weather. This year, we have actually had a really hot fall, thus far, however, on the day of Jenny and John’s engagement session, there was a small break from the 90 degree days, and it felt like actual, legit fall weather. (Yay!) We planned to do a sunset session up at Beard’s Hill, which provides a stunning location for a session because it’s so varied. We started out by the hiking trails and stream, and got some beautiful photos of the two of them with big giant sun rays peeking through the large trees.

We then drove up to another location within the same area, that has a large tree overhanging the river that John really liked. As I was having a fun idea for a pose that came to my mind, I asked them to sit down next to a wall that had some street art painted on it. As they were about to sit, John kicked at the ground and said, “Oops, here’s a small snake.” Like a rockstar, Jenny didn’t even hesitate to sit down right afterward and when I commended her for her bravery, she stated, “Snakes don’t bother me. Spiders do.” I laughed because I am actually the exact same way. We spent a few minutes hanging out doing photos in that spot, when I looked into my camera viewfinder to see a GIGANTIC black and yellow spider, perched precariously inches away from her head. Being not-great with hiding things, I gasped loudly and told her calmly to get up quickly, without turning her head. After she did that, she looked back and we both had our own dramatic freak out moment. I’m sure it’s something we’ll look back on and laugh about soon. But, needless to say, Jenny gets some major kudos for being adventurous and calm in the face of danger.

We ended the session as the sun went down at the top of the Beard Hill overlook. It literally feels like you’re on the top of the world, and can see the entire county from this vantage point. The trees were sun-kissed, and beginning to turn their various shades of yellow and reds for fall, and it was the perfect night for an engagement session in Port Huron. We always like to somehow incorporate the engagement ring into the elements of their engagement session, so it was perfectly fitting that John found a pretty weed that stood strong in the middle of the rocks, with a single pretty blue flower blooming proudly. It made for the perfect setting, and we really love the macro photography shot of that.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into Jenny & John’s engagement session where we were their Professional Port Huron Photographer. If you’re engaged, and looking for a wedding photographer in Michigan, we’d love to chat with you.

Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team | Dani & Dan

Dan and Danielle were married on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the gorgeous Ruby Lodge Rental in Ruby, Michigan. You may remember them from their engagement session that we featured on the blog in the early summer. We were absolutely thrilled to spend the day being their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team, and loved documenting their special day and moments.

One simply set foot into the venue, and all of Dani’s hard work and love was so evident, every where you looked. She thought of everything, and her theme was seriously stunning to see in person. We’re a tad bit obsessed with the deep reds, mixed with the rustic wooden touches and the ultra-glam and sparkly rose gold sequins. Dan’s daughter Kyla was a big part of the day, as well, acting as a wonderful flower girl (we loved her look of concentration walking down the aisle!) and then together, they shared a special father/daughter dance to My Girl by The Temptations that may (or may not?) have rendered us wiping a stray tear or two away from behind our cameras. (Hey, we have feelings too, ok?!)

One of the trio of photographers here at Mulberry & Sage was actually in the bridal party, so it was a great time to spend the day blending friendship, and working together to get some candid and awesome shots throughout the day. We love photographing at the Ruby Tree Farm because you don’t even have to leave the property during the portrait session; there are so many amazing locations and spots to photograph, and towards the end of their portrait time, the sun was beautifully peeking out behind the large pine trees, and it (along with Dani) was breathtakingly beautiful.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Dani and Dan’s wedding day where Mulberry & Sage Photography was their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team. If you’re engaged and looking for a professional wedding photography team, we’d love to chat. hello@mulberryandsage.com

  • St. Clair County Engagement Photographer | Brianne & Dan

St. Clair County Engagement Photographer | Brianne & Dan

St. Clair County Engagement PhotographerDan and Brianne grew up in the Port Huron area but have since moved out of state for work reasons, so we were thrilled when they ventured back to the area and hired Mulberry & Sage Photography to be their St. Clair County Engagement Photographer. We are working closely with them to ensure their wedding photography is the least of their worries while planning a Port Huron Michigan wedding, all while being hundreds of miles away, physically. Our communication is always open and doesn’t stop once you hire us for the job. Planning an engagement session that reflects the couple is something we always strive for. When Brianne mentioned wanting a country-inspired engagement session, we scouted locations until we found the perfect fit. Dan is a lover of vintage trucks, and we were happy to arrange a surprise for him with habing a 1969 Chevy truck to pose alongside.

The whole engagement session was fun with easy conversation and candor. Brianne and Dan started the session a little nervous in front of the camera, having never been photographed as a couple, but by the end were practically professionals.  It was so great wrapping up the session feeling like old friends. That’s honestly a massive benefit when you’re booking a professional engagement and wedding photographer. We don’t ever want you to feel uncomfortable or awkward in front of the camera with us, and booking an engagement session to get to know each other really helps alleviate any of those feelings or fears that you may have.

Brianne and Dan are planning a Port Huron wedding for the spring, and we can’t wait to hang out and catch up with them again then, as we’re so excited that they booked Mulberry & Sage to be their professional Port Huron wedding photographer.

We cannot wait to see them again at their May 2018 wedding! If you are recently engaged and looking to connect with a St. Clair County Engagement Photographer, we’d love to sit down and chat with you. Many of our packages come standard with an engagement session, for that very reason!

Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer | Melissa & Jesse

    Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer

Jesse and Melissa were married September 30th 2017 at The Bean Dock on the beautiful St. Clair River, and we were thrilled they asked us to document their special day by being their Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer. The blue water, mixed with blue skies, made for a gorgeous early fall wedding day.

We arrived to their home early afternoon to document Melissa getting ready with her mom and bridesmaids. The small bridal party consisting of only family members made it so comfortable and welcoming that we felt right at home. Melissa’s mother helped her into her dress privately, while her girls waited outside. Once she was all laced into her corset-backed gown, we went outside and had the best ‘wow moment’ with the bridesmaids. Melissa was STUNNING. The reactions were priceless.

The ceremony was short and sweet performed by long time family friend from the Agostino side of the family. Stepping inside the venue, Melissa and Jesse’s hard work was everywhere you looked. There were so many handcrafted details, and that really made the decorations even more meaningful. We especially loved the additions to the children’s seating, where she placed a disposable camera and a list of ‘Eye Spy’ moments to capture. This helped the little ones get in on the action, and they had so much fun with it all night.

We decided to explore downtown Port Huron for the bridal party photos and it was a great choice for this adventurous group. We were taking photos outside the now-empty Harrington Inn when the caretakers invited us in. There is so much history inside, and we were so happy to preserve those memories for Melissa and Jesse before the Inn is closed for good. Of course, a stroll around Port Huron wouldn’t be complete without stopping into one of the bars downtown before we left. The bartenders at Lynch’s were so gracious, they let everyone behind the bar for tequila shots (whiskey for Courtney-peer pressure!)

Jesse’s hockey teammates formed an arch with their hockey sticks as the bridal party made their way into the reception; an entrance not to be soon forgotten. Our other favorite moments we captured were the emotions in the speeches to the bride and groom, Melissa and Jesse’s first dance under all the beautiful lights, and the gorgeous dessert bar with handmade flowers all around it. We suspect the grooms signature drink, The Michigan Mule made with Vernors & cherry vodka had something to do with all those great moves on the packed dance floor!

It was a fabulous night and we are so honored you choose us to document your day and be your Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer. If you’re planning a wedding at The Bean Dock and are looking for a photographer, we’d love to connect and grab a coffee and chat!
