Michigan Farm Engagement Session | Tiffani & Lucas

Michigan Farm Engagement SessionWe met Tiffani & Lucas at the Solitude Links tasting event that they put on for their couples. As a preferred vendor we get to come mingle and meet the couples planning their weddings at the gorgeous venue (and enjoy a delicious dinner too!) We immediately connected, booked their June 5th 2021 wedding and planned their Michigan Farm Engagement session, all within a few short weeks. When you know, you know and we are so excited to welcome Tiffani & Lucas into our Mulberry & Sage family.

We had planned for a beautiful fall engagement session but mother nature had other ideas and surprised us with a early snow storm. Honestly though, it only made their Michigan Farm Engagement session more beautiful. The morning sun shining off the snow covered round bales were some our favorite photos! Tiffani and Lucas brought their fur-baby Duke. He was so playful & energetic. We love adding pets to our sessions and it was a perfect way to start their session. Next we hoped on a Ranger to get to the farm lane and cornfield. Courtney got to show off her driving skills-if we are shooting your wedding at a golf course and golf carts are involved to different photo locations she will drive and you will hang on for dear life. Just kidding. Kind of. After the farm Tiffani and Lucas changed so of course we had to change locations to match their style. The pines trees at the end is a secret location we love to use in the morning, especially in the snow.

We love engagement sessions and think every couple who books with us should take advantage of them. Even if you think you don’t need the photos, save the dates are not the only end goal. It is a time to get to know each other better and learn our shooting style. That way when we show up on your wedding day we can truly greet each other as friends. We already can’t wait to see Tiffani & Lucas again! We hope you liked this sneak peek into their Michigan Farm Engagement Session! Still planning your wedding? We would love to connect.Michigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement SessionMichigan Farm Engagement Session

  • New Baltimore Engagement Photography | Hillary & David

New Baltimore Engagement SessionHillary and David have such a fun love story, and we are excited that they booked us to be their Port Huron City Flats wedding photographer for 2020. Their package that they customized came with an engagement session, so we met up last weekend to do their New Baltimore Engagement Photography session.

Hillary and David met on a dating app, and spent the first few years of their relationship apart and dating long distance, because Hillary was finishing up her school program in Bowling Green. She’d drive up to Macomb on long weekends, and David would also go down there to visit too, and the two of them love to travel and would always vacation with each other as well. Once Hillary graduated, she moved up to live in Michigan with David. She is in the chorale for the Detroit Opera House, and on nights and weekends that aren’t spent in downtown Detroit, the two of them love to hang out at their house with their sweet dog and cat, watch movies, and hit up fun little local gems around their house. We spent the first part of their session in a documentary way, and captured their little family of 4 being cozy, drinking some coffee, and hanging with the pets.

We headed out to Downtown New Baltimore after that, and had some fun exploring the quaint downtown area. Some of the stores had begun decorating for Christmas, and that was fun to play in to a bit, and the vibrant colors of the walls down there made for a great backdrop, as well as Lake St. Claire. They were great sports, and even though it was pretty cold outside, they just snuggled in tighter and went along with our crazy ideas and prompts. They were easy to photograph because they would giggle together, and talk, and just had a natural and easy relationship that was a joy to capture. We are so excited for their upcoming City Flats wedding.

We hope you love this preview into Hillary and David’s New Baltimore Engagement Photography session. If you are in the Macomb area and are looking for a Macomb professional photographer, we would love to meet up. Send us an email & let’s hang out!

Clyde Engagement Photography Session | Caitlin & Dennis

    Clyde Engagement Photography

Caitlin and Dennis are one of our amazing Mulberry & Sage 2020 couples, and we loved hanging out with them last Monday evening for one of the last beautiful quintessential Michigan autumn evenings to do their Clyde Engagement Photography Session. In fact, Caitlin and Dennis were one of our first 2020 couples booked, and have chosen the most popular date we’ve seen requested for the year so far: 10.10.20. Courtney has a family wedding that she is photographing that day out of state, so instead of tag-teaming the engagement session like we typically will do, it was just the three of us for the evening.

Caitlin and Dennis first heard about us from Caitlin’s sister, Lindsey. who owns a local posed newborn photography business. Since neither Courtney nor I specialize in posed studio newborn sessions, we always refer those type of inquiries out to other photographers from our network, and Lindsey is always on that referral list. Her sister Caitlin was in the market for a local wedding photographer, and Lindsey sent her our way, and we’re so glad that she did. Caitlin and Dennis love the fall…hence their October 2020 wedding date. Getting engagement photos done in autumn was always the plan, and unlike most of the fall session we’ve done lately that have involved rain rescheduling, their scheduled date was seriously beautiful. They fell in love with the Clyde location that we use often, and we spent last Monday evening traipsing around the woods, hanging out, playing fun prompting type games, and documenting their love and love story. The overlook was beautiful as always, but *my* favorite photos are actually the set from down by the river, because of the brightly colored trees by them, and the large pine trees. I always feel like I’ve stepped foot into a different state when I look down the river there. What makes it extra special is that Dennis told us both that he knew the area; he grew up going hunting down the road with his Dad, but had never explored through this particular section before.

We hope you enjoy this glimpse into Caitlin and Dennis’ Clyde Engagement Photography Session. Our November is fairly open, if you’re looking to get some outdoor engagement photos done before the snow starts falling. (Honestly, we can’t wait for that, though!) Contact us here.

Port Huron Engagement Session | Aleesha & Derrick

    Port Huron Engagement Session

Aleesha and Derrick are a great couple with so much natural chemistry; it was a joy to capture it in photos and do their Port Huron Engagement Session last weekend. We had tried earlier in the month of October to have their Port Huron Engagement Session, but in #PureMichigan form, it was a rainy and blustery fall day that day. We rescheduled for the end of October. and crossed our fingers that we would luck out and have a great day, weather wise. We are so glad that we didn’t try to power through on their original date, because last Sunday was seriously the most beautiful and stunning day to have a Port Huron Engagement Session. The sun was shining, the weather was mild, and the foliage did not disappoint. And neither did Aleesha and Derrick. The two of them met at work; they are both cardiac nurses at McLaren Hospital in Port Huron. They were so much fun to watch together and document. If you’ve done a session with us, you’ll know that we will lead you to what a flattering pose or angle is, and then we’re kind of “hands off.” We’ll tell you to talk and giggle together, and simply have fun with your partner. And the two of them nailed that part. Derrick was making Aleesha laugh the entire time, and it rendered some amazing photos as an end result.

Aleesha and Derrick are getting married in 2020, and are busy planning their Port Huron City Flats wedding. We have had the opportunity to photograph inside City Flats, and are honored to be one of their preferred vendors. We have quite a few weddings for 2020 booked for City Flats, and are so excited about this amazing addition to our beautiful Downtown Port Huron that we’re so proud to show off.

We hope you enjoy this preview into Aleesha and Derrick’s Port Huron Engagement Session. Engagement photo season is in full swing around here, and if you’re planning a 2020 or 2021 wedding and would like to schedule a Port Huron Engagement Session, we would love to meet you and talk about how we can document your love story. Grass Lake Wedding Photography | Josephine & Jason

    grass lake wedding photographer

We are so excited to introduce you all to Josephine & Jason. They were married at Eyry of the Eagle on October 5th and they had the perfect fall day, and we loved doing their Grass Lake wedding photography for the day. They told us the venue appealed to them because of the natural setting. We fell in love right away, too. Old barns & tall pines lead to the reception hall, and a long gravel path with 4-board fencing lined the way to the ceremony spot next to a huge gorgeous pond. A beautifully restored Farmall M with a trailer brought guests to the ceremony. Llamas in the pasture only added to the scenery. What more could we ask for!? We loved spending the day as their Eyry of the Eagle wedding photographer!

We started the day by having an intimate first look right in middle of a the tall pine forest. We love first looks because they really seem to relax the timeline quite a bit, because it allows for all the portraits and bridal party photos to be done ahead of time; that way we can just focus on the formal family photos immediately after the ceremony, and you could even enjoy your own time together while your guests relax during the cocktail hour before the reception officially begins. We didn’t have to go far for gorgeous photos even though the property was quite expansive on over 100 acres owned by landscape artist Dale Fisher. He even made an appearance during the ceremony and took a couple photos and had them printed and signed but the time we started the reception. He even grabbed one of us working and gave it as a gift which we thought was super sweet.

Josephine and her dad arrived to start the ceremony in Jason’s beloved Chevy truck. Her dad opening the door as she stepped out was such a sweet moment. The ceremony was the perfect amount of time, just enough for the emotion to build. Did you catch Jason’s face as he watched his bride walk towards him? It’s what every bride dreams of. Their aunt was the officiant and we loved that personal touch.

The rest of the night was spent dancing the night away surrounded by friends and family. We had a wonderful time being Josephine and Jason’s Grass Lake wedding photographer, and hope you enjoy this small preview into their special nature-themed day. If you’re in the Metro Detroit or Port Huron area and are looking for a wedding photographer, we would love to connect with you! Our 2021 is already starting to book up (crazy, right?!)
