A Perfect Downtown Detroit Love Story: Sammie & Brandon’s Wedding Day

When Sammie and Brandon decided to tie the knot in the heart of Michigan’s most iconic city, they knew they wanted their special day to showcase everything they loved about Detroit. As their downtown Detroit wedding photographer, we were thrilled to capture every magical moment of their celebration. The day began at a stunning historic church nestled right in downtown Detroit’s bustling core. This beautiful, old sanctuary provided the perfect backdrop for Sammy and Brandon’s heartfelt ceremony. The church’s timeless architecture and rich history added an extra layer of meaning to their vows, creating an atmosphere that was simply stunning to witness.

Of course, getting married in downtown Detroit on a busy sports day came with its unique challenges! With both a Lions game and a Tigers game happening simultaneously, navigating the was quite the adventure. But true to their laid-back spirits, Sammie, Brandon, and their entire wedding party rolled with the punches and made the best of the bustling city energy. The excitement in the air from all the game-day festivities only added to the celebratory mood of their wedding day and people were celebrating and honking from the streets left and right!
After their beautiful ceremony, we ventured to the iconic Belle Isle for their portrait session. Sammie wanted an organic and natural park feel and we found the perfect draping willow tree.
No downtown Detroit wedding would be complete without stopping at Sunset Point for those iconic Detroit skyline shots. The backdrop of the city’s impressive silhouette created stunning imagery that truly captured the essence of their urban love story. The couple’s chemistry was undeniable as they posed against the dramatic cityscape at sunset.

The celebration continued at the gorgeous Laurel Manor in Livonia, where the reception space was transformed into a romantic paradise. The venue was dressed in beautiful pinks and greens, creating an elegant and fresh atmosphere that perfectly reflected Sammie and Brandon’s style. Every detail, from the floral arrangements to the ambient lighting, spoke to their thoughtful planning and impeccable taste. What made this wedding extra special was witnessing a love story that everyone saw coming from miles away. Sammie and Brandon have been together for so long that their friends and family weren’t surprised by their engagement – they were just waiting for it to finally happen! Their deep connection and genuine affection for each other was evident in every moment we captured.

We had the pleasure of getting to know this wonderful couple during their engagement session last year in Lexington, Michigan, which gave us insight into their dynamic and helped us capture their authentic personalities on their wedding day.

Sammie and Brandon’s wedding was a perfect blend of urban sophistication and timeless romance. From the historic charm of downtown Detroit to the natural beauty of Belle Isle and the elegant reception at Laurel Manor, every moment was filled with love, laughter, and pure joy.

leona road wedding photographyMemorial Day weekend brought the perfect Michigan spring day for Aubrie and Evan’s wedding at the stunning Leona Road in Grand Rapids. As their Grand Rapids Leona Road wedding photographers, we were thrilled to capture their love story at this one-of-a-kind venue. The modern, light-filled spaces and lush outdoor areas made every shot feel like a work of art. (more…)

  • Downtown Detroit Engagement Photography | Amelia & Wyatt

downtown detroit engagement sessionLast weekend was pure magic because we had the pleasure of capturing Amelia and Wyatt’s downtown Detroit engagement photography session. The city was buzzing with energy—Pistons and Tigers games were happening—but somehow, we lucked out with quiet streets and perfect weather in the 60s, with sunshine lighting up every moment.

We started at Campus Martius, where the tulips were popping off (seriously, they were stunning!). The beautifully landscaped gardens made for such a romantic backdrop, and Amelia and Wyatt’s chemistry was effortless. Laughs, stolen kisses, and a whole lot of love—it was the perfect start.

Next, we strolled down Woodward Ave, one of Detroit’s most iconic streets. The urban scenery gave their photos that classic city vibe—gritty yet full of life. Even with game day crowds nearby, the streets felt surprisingly open, letting us take our time and play with different angles.

Then, we ducked into the alley by the Z Lot, where the graffiti walls added an edgy, artsy feel. The contrast between the colorful murals and their soft, romantic connection created such dynamic shots. Finally, we headed up to theZ Lot rooftop, where the skyline views were unreal. As the sun dipped lower, the golden light wrapped everything in warmth—it was the perfect way to end their session.

Amelia and Wyatt were absolute naturals, and downtown Detroit delivered all the vibes. If you’re looking for downtown Detroit engagement photography that blends urban energy with timeless romance, let’s chat—we’d love to plan your perfect session too!
