Wisconsin Destination Wedding | Taylor & Justin

Lake Geneva wedding photography

Over the past two years, we’ve gotten to know Taylor and Justin. First, Courtney traveled and did their Chicago engagement photography session. Then the next year, we photographed their intimate wedding ceremony, right in the midst of COVID (it was very safe, and very small.) Oh, and we also can’t forget that Taylor is Ashley’s sister (how they originally met us) and we even saw them last fall at Jenn’s wedding in Tawas. When their plans changed and we became their Wisconsin Destination Wedding photographers, it felt natural and easy to go along for the ride along with them, and document their love story! Needless to say, we feel emotionally connected with this couple and their friend group. (Bridesmaids & groomsmen- carry on the trend for us…..ok?)

Taylor and Justin were planning a wedding from their home in Chicago, however, having to reschedule and change their plans once due to the pandemic, as their date crept closer and the Michigan rates and restrictions looked more daunting, the couple decided to alter their plans and get married in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. We don’t shy away from a good destination wedding so we were all in, and looked forward to it all spring. During our roadtrip to Wisconsin, we learned some interesting factoids about the city, as well as the Grand Geneva Resort that they got married at. We learned that the one and only Hugh Hefner had built the resort in 1968, and it was called the Lake Geneva Playboy Club Hotel. It has been a luxury resort in Wisconsin, and a popular tourist destination ever since (Sonny and Cher once stayed there, as well as Bob Hope!) While it hasn’t officially been affiliated with Playboy since the 1980’s, the resort was stunning to visit and was the perfect place for Taylor and Justin’s reception.

We spent all day with the party- we started with popping some mimosas and taking golf tee-off photos, and ended it partying with them on the dance floor. It was a whirlwind weekend (full of lots of road trip tunes) and we couldn’t help but feel a bit sad when we said goodbye to them. We guess that’s the bond that we all go through- especially during the past couple years. We hope you enjoy this small preview into their Lake Geneva destination wedding reception. If you’re getting married, we love to travel and would love to connect.
