Third time’s the charm! It’s a cutesy phrase our brides are probably getting sick of hearing, but in this case it’s true. Last weekend we hopped in the car and drove down south to be Lauren and Jamarr’s Columbus Ohio Wedding Photographer. (more…)

Lapeer Engagement Photography | Alyssa & Joe

We’re excited to introduce you to Alyssa and Joe, and show you some of our favorite images from their Lapeer Michigan engagement photography session. We first met the two of them at the Solitude Links bridal tasting event, where Mulberry & Sage always has a booth. We love being a preferred vendor for Solutide Links, and we meet so many awesome couples through their various events throughout the year. (We’ll be there again in May for their annual bridal show!) Anyway, we met the two of them because we ended up being placed at their table for dinner (which was delicious, per the usual.) We all got to chatting, and we fell in love with the two of them and their love story. One of Alyssa’s biggest questions was whether we had ever done a multi-cultural wedding before. That peaked our interest, because we love new things, and learning all about new traditions that we may not see all the time. Alyssa is Macedonian, and plans to have a day chock full of their traditions, which we learned a bit about, and we CANNOT WAIT to capture. One of the coolest parts is that Joe gets to parade down the street. A wedding with a parade? Yes, please.
While the wedding day may be full of Alyssa’s traditions, the engagement session really felt like we captured Joe’s heritage. His uncle owns a stunning “cottage” (their words. Most definitely not ours.) in Lapeer County, and we couldn’t believe it when we pulled up. It felt like a property that was straight out of Frankenmuth; the charm was unbelievable. It had lots of property to explore, and the home that overlooked a lake was seriously beautiful. It looked and felt so German to us; like straight out of Bavaria. It was, however, one of the coldest days of the year thus far, and the two of them handled it like champs (especially Alyssa, who never once complained, and braved the elements for over an hour!) Joe grew up hanging out with his uncle and cousins on this property, and had so many great stories of hunting up there, and so many funny tales of family bonding times. We love that the winter feel matched the buildings perfectly, and that there was snow on the ground, to boot.
We literally cannot wait until their November 2020 wedding, and to see all the love and fireworks between the two of them all over again. We hope you enjoy this preview into their Lapeer engagement photography session. We’d love to chat if you’re in the market for a Lapeer or Kimball wedding photographer.

Port Huron Engagement Session | Aleesha & Derrick

Aleesha and Derrick are a great couple with so much natural chemistry; it was a joy to capture it in photos and do their Port Huron Engagement Session last weekend. We had tried earlier in the month of October to have their Port Huron Engagement Session, but in #PureMichigan form, it was a rainy and blustery fall day that day. We rescheduled for the end of October. and crossed our fingers that we would luck out and have a great day, weather wise. We are so glad that we didn’t try to power through on their original date, because last Sunday was seriously the most beautiful and stunning day to have a Port Huron Engagement Session. The sun was shining, the weather was mild, and the foliage did not disappoint. And neither did Aleesha and Derrick. The two of them met at work; they are both cardiac nurses at McLaren Hospital in Port Huron. They were so much fun to watch together and document. If you’ve done a session with us, you’ll know that we will lead you to what a flattering pose or angle is, and then we’re kind of “hands off.” We’ll tell you to talk and giggle together, and simply have fun with your partner. And the two of them nailed that part. Derrick was making Aleesha laugh the entire time, and it rendered some amazing photos as an end result.
Aleesha and Derrick are getting married in 2020, and are busy planning their Port Huron City Flats wedding. We have had the opportunity to photograph inside City Flats, and are honored to be one of their preferred vendors. We have quite a few weddings for 2020 booked for City Flats, and are so excited about this amazing addition to our beautiful Downtown Port Huron that we’re so proud to show off.
We hope you enjoy this preview into Aleesha and Derrick’s Port Huron Engagement Session. Engagement photo season is in full swing around here, and if you’re planning a 2020 or 2021 wedding and would like to schedule a Port Huron Engagement Session, we would love to meet you and talk about how we can document your love story. Muskegon Engagement Photographer | Jen & De’Ontre

We first met Jen when she was a bridesmaid at her good friend Ashley’s wedding. She and Ashley both went to Western Michigan University, and during Jen’s stint there in the dental hygiene program, she met Kalamazoo native, De’Ontre. The two of them immediately hit it off, and are busy planning their May 2020 wedding in Gladwin, which we have the honor of photographing. Jen and De’Ontre live in Kalamazoo area together, and since I was traveling over to the west side of Michigan to photograph a wedding on Saturday, we decided that Friday evening was the perfect option for us to be their Muskegon engagement photographer, being in town and all.
Jen and De’Ontre brought their two small chihuahuas, and we had an absolute blast watching their personalities come through in photos. Her one dog pre-dates their actual relationship, so the “I loved her first” sign he sported around his neck was super fitting, and adorable. We got to explore the PJ Hoffmaster State Park together with Jen’s mom alongside wrangling the dogs. In the shade the weather was perfect, but we all quickly discovered that the bright sunlight on the beach area was pretty brutally hot. Jen’s family is originally from Tawas, Michigan, so the beauty of a different lake than we are both “used to” (Tawas & Port Huron are both on Lake Huron) didn’t go unnoticed. Lake Michigan’s beautiful soft sandy beaches, and the sunset over the lake are both things that are completely unmatched. The sun is definitely featured heavily in this session, because it was so bright and the sky was nearly cloudless. We love an embrace the sun, and it’s a favorite of ours to allow ourselves and our equipment to create fun lens flares (like sun bursts, or the rainbow colored flare dots) to have it add to the beauty and overall feel of a session.
in 2020 and beyond, Mulberry & Sage is really aiming to begin specializing in destination weddings and destination engagement sessions. If you’re in the market for a western Michigan wedding photographer or Muskegon engagement photographer, we would love the opportunity to connect and chat with you! We hope you love this small preview into Jen & De’Ontre’s beautiful engagement session on Lake Michigan.

Fort Gratiot Lighthouse Wedding Photography | Kelsey & Tim

Kelsey and Tim have been together for over seven years, so when we met with them over the winter when they inquired about Mulberry & Sage as their Fort Gratiot Lighthouse Wedding Photography team, we got to hear all the funny stories and jokes that they shared alongside their families about their upcoming June wedding. Since Megan was due to have her baby at the beginning of June, Courtney and Serena teamed up for this June wedding, and Michigan weather really showed up for it. It was literally the most perfect sunny day; it was in the mid-60’s and wasn’t too hot or too cold. The breeze coming off the lake was amazing, and we were thrilled to spend our day at the beach celebrating their love story and their new chapter.
Kelsey was really pulling for an elopement, but Tim was the one who wanted the formal wedding, and we thought that was so sweet. Kelsey really hated having the attention on her, so we really focused on the documentary side of things, and capturing that aspect of their day, rather than the formal posed photos. With our style, it worked out great, and instead, we focused her attention on loving on her new husband, and got some great photos for them to cherish for years to come. At home, they have two crazy bulldogs who are their babies. They would have loved to have them at the wedding, but had the coolest and most unique cake topper to signify their family of 4 instead. They love music, and Tim brought his own set-up and played the DJ and MC role for the night, as well as doting groom.
The two of them are very laid back, and love exploring nature and being outdoors. Their barefooted beach wedding was ideal for the two of them, and many of their guests followed along with the trend and ditched their own shoes, as well. We also had a great laid-back timeline for the day, because they chose to do an intimate first look with the two of them before their ceremony. That allowed them to relax and mingle with their guests, and really enjoy their night to the max.
We love shooting at their venue, and since we’re local Port Huron gals ourselves, incorporating the Fort Gratiot Lighthouse Wedding Photography into their day was so much fun. If you’re in the market for a Fort Gratiot Lighthouse Beach Wedding Photographer, we would love to chat with you!
