Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer Team | Laura & Chris

Laura and Chris tied the knot on July 6, and we were so excited to tag along their special day as their Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer Team. The day started off as hot and muggy, and quickly turned into a full day of rain, but the age old saying of “rain on your wedding day brings good luck” is always our motto, and we set forth to roll with the downpour and keep the happy couple covered as much as possible. Luckily, they chose the perfect place to get ready and have their first look in: The Dearborn Inn. Laura and her girls prepared for the day back in one of the cottages behind the inn, and Chris and his friends hung out for a while and prepared inside. The two met up under the large trees by the Poe House at the inn, and had a beautiful and intimate first look. We also couldn’t resist sharing the joy of Laura’s nephew and her seeing each other for the first time either; they were both so happy and excited!

One thing that stands as a theme through all these photos is family. Laura and her parents are very tight knit, and we loved documenting all her Dad’s reactions to his baby girl’s special wedding day to her soulmate, Chris. After we did some portraits, we headed to the stunning church in Hamtramck where they officially became husband and wife. The church was so large and ornate, and very traditional, in a beautiful way. Their reception was held at St. Josaphat Banquet Centre in Warren, and was decorated to the nines, and chock full of family and friends who had so much energy and smiles, welcoming the newest married couple into their lives. Once again, some of our favorite moments are those small, in-between ones full of joy, laughter, and love, that really set this day apart from others.

We hope you enjoy this preview into Laura and Chris’ big day, where Mulberry & Sage tagged along as the happy couple’s Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer Team. To see more photos of Laura and Chris, and learn more about them personally, make sure to check out their Port Huron engagement photography session here.

We are quickly booking our 2020 calendar, and would love to speak to you about how we can make your wedding day vision come to life, as well.

  • Lexington Michigan Engagement Session | Megan & Jim

Lexington Michigan Engagement Session | Megan & Jim

Lexington Michigan Engagement SessionWe love Megan & Jim’s engagement story and were so thrilled to spend the evening on Sunday being their Lexington Michigan Engagement Session photographer.

They met by chance at Boyne Mountain Ski Resort, even though they grew up in the same town and graduated from the same high school (just a few years apart.) They had a great time together for the weekend, but it took almost a year later for them to start dating. Megan joked it could have been a lot sooner because Jim did invite her for another ski trip soon after they got home, but she thought he was dating someone and turned him down! Once they were officially together, everything clicked into place and they are inseparably bound by their love of skiing, adventure and, of course, each other. Fast forward a few years later on another trip to Boyne mountain; Jim took his sweet time but finally got down on one knee, on Megan’s favorite ski run and asked her to be his wife. The jeweler advised him not to propose on the mountain in fear of losing the ring in the snow, but we are so glad he didn’t listen because it just makes for a great story!

They brought along their black lab puppy Mougle (a ski term, for those who don’t know.) We love including pets, especially one as sweet and outgoing as their little girl. We rode a side by side through wooded trails on Jim’s family property for the first half of the session, looking for the perfect snowy locations. Snow was very important to capture in their engagement photos, so we got them scheduled right away soon as they inquired. The second half of the session was at their gorgeous lake property. The bonfire plays a significance because Megan says she CANNOT go a single night when the weather is right without a bonfire. She just loves the ambiance and warmth and it’s one of their favorite ways to relax at the end of the day.

They are silly yet sweet, and full of that all-consuming love that you can’t help but feel once you are around them. My face hurt from smiling so much. Their Lexington Michigan Engagement Session was the perfect example of why engagement sessions are so important to us. We get to know each other beyond a client-professional relationship and it helps us know what to capture and what’s important in their relationship.

They are still planning the details of their wedding and we are looking forward to what they decide and can’t wait to be a part of it. If you’re looking for a Lexington Michigan Engagement Session, we would love to connect with you.

  • St. Clair County Engagement Photographer | Brianne & Dan

St. Clair County Engagement Photographer | Brianne & Dan

St. Clair County Engagement PhotographerDan and Brianne grew up in the Port Huron area but have since moved out of state for work reasons, so we were thrilled when they ventured back to the area and hired Mulberry & Sage Photography to be their St. Clair County Engagement Photographer. We are working closely with them to ensure their wedding photography is the least of their worries while planning a Port Huron Michigan wedding, all while being hundreds of miles away, physically. Our communication is always open and doesn’t stop once you hire us for the job. Planning an engagement session that reflects the couple is something we always strive for. When Brianne mentioned wanting a country-inspired engagement session, we scouted locations until we found the perfect fit. Dan is a lover of vintage trucks, and we were happy to arrange a surprise for him with habing a 1969 Chevy truck to pose alongside.

The whole engagement session was fun with easy conversation and candor. Brianne and Dan started the session a little nervous in front of the camera, having never been photographed as a couple, but by the end were practically professionals.  It was so great wrapping up the session feeling like old friends. That’s honestly a massive benefit when you’re booking a professional engagement and wedding photographer. We don’t ever want you to feel uncomfortable or awkward in front of the camera with us, and booking an engagement session to get to know each other really helps alleviate any of those feelings or fears that you may have.

Brianne and Dan are planning a Port Huron wedding for the spring, and we can’t wait to hang out and catch up with them again then, as we’re so excited that they booked Mulberry & Sage to be their professional Port Huron wedding photographer.

We cannot wait to see them again at their May 2018 wedding! If you are recently engaged and looking to connect with a St. Clair County Engagement Photographer, we’d love to sit down and chat with you. Many of our packages come standard with an engagement session, for that very reason!

Goodells Wedding Photographer | Amanda & Lance

    Goodells Wedding Photographer

On the 23rd day of September, Amanda and Lance said “I do” and promised their lives to each other, and we loved that they hired Mulberry & Sage Photography to document their very special day and be their Goodells Wedding Photographer. The day was one of the hottest days of the entire year, and just-so-happened to occur at the end of September, so it was a very interesting experience to photograph a fall wedding in 95 degree heat, but everyone was so relaxed, they just rolled along with it happily (and sweaty.)

Amanda and Lance wanted a country-themed wedding, and totally nailed it. Their fun details such as the camouflaged vests for the guys, and the cowboy boots that everyone in the party sported all day really brought the country heat (see that pun we did there?) and get it was still chic with the wildflower inspired bouquets, mixed with the big yellow sunflowers and wood decor every where. Amanda and Lance even exited the church to “Cowboy Take Me Away.” (Admittedly, one of Megan’s favorite songs, ever.)

Their ceremony took place at the little chapel on the Goodells Fair Grounds, and the reception occurred in Amanda’s parent’s back yard in Avoca. Their property is really pretty, with a pond and a tree planted as a memorial to Amanda’s grandparents who passed away. Their food was really yummy and was prepared and cooked by one of their groomsmen who owns a taco truck in the Detroit Metro Area. We love some good ole’ BBQ wedding comfort food, and it didn’t disappoint at all. Their two sons played a big role in their ceremony, and did a great job holding a handmade sign that read, “Daddy, Here Comes Mommy.” It was so sweet!

We hope you love this small preview into Amanda and Lance’s day, where we were their Goodells Wedding Photographer. If you’re getting married in Goodells, Michigan, we’d love the opportunity to chat with you about how we can document your special day as well.

  • Lexington Elopement Photographer | Kat & Nicholas

Lexington Elopement Photographer | Kat & Nicholas

    Lexington Elopement Photographer

After spending a spur-of-the-moment Saturday afternoon in August with Kat and Nicholas, we have the opinion that everybody needs to witness or photograph and elopement like theirs sometime in their lives. Kat and Nick contacted us (literally) a week before their wedding day to be their Lexington Elopement Photographer. They were in the planning stages of coming over to this side of the state (they live in Kalamazoo, now) and get married on the shores of their special place in Lexington Heights, Michigan. They wanted a very small event, with only close friends and family present, and including their children into their day was also very important to them.

It was forecasted to severally storm that day, so instead, they had their ceremony in Kat’s parent’s back yard on their patio. Nick’s sister got ordained on the internet to perform their service, and surprised them by also putting together a sand ceremony to blend their lives together. Kat and Nicholas met in the theater, performing for the play A Streetcar Named Desire. Their ceremony was the most moving ceremony we’ve probably ever witnessed. They recited their own vows to each other, and even some Shakespeare was quoted at the end. After their kiss, they quickly went inside and got a champagne toast going, and the celebration began.

Remember how we mentioned the weather forecast? Well, it turned out to be a gorgeous day, and we spent some time after their ceremony in Lexington Heights doing some intimate portraits with the two of them, and then we met up in Lexington before their dinner reception for some larger group family shots. They had dinner on Lake Huron, and spent the day celebrating their love and new vows an promises to each other.

Kat was a stunning bride, but their love for each other really shines through in these photos, and we couldn’t help but share some of our favorites with you. If you’re planning an elopement in Eastern Michigan, we’d love to discuss becoming your Lexington Elopement Photographer. We have smaller packages available, perfect for an intimate elopement celebration!
