Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session

We met Nicolette through the magical powers of Facebook, when we excitedly replied for her inquiry for photographers who were available to do a Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session.

We started chatting with Nicolette and telling her that if she wanted an awesome beach session, Lake Huron was the place to do it, and we were the team to capture her Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session. While we are smack dab in the middle of our busy season, we were able to make a Monday evening work for the two of them to drive up and play wedding day dress up and take some beautiful portraits. Recently though, the phrase “trash the dress” can mean a variety of things, so we’d like to clarify that we didn’t exactly trash the dress. We like to think that we created artwork and memories for Nicolette and Randy to cherish for a long time to come, while still maintaining the integrity of her wedding dress. So often, your wedding day is an absolute blur of emotions and happenings. You may have had a busy timeline, and weren’t able to get every single photo that you may have wanted. We started their Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session by taking some romantic portraits on the beach and beach paths with the summer foliage, because on their actual wedding day, it was raining. Then we waded into the lake and spent some time playing in the waves, prompting them to snuggle excessively, and just relax and let the lake and waves do the magic while we captured it. Nicolette and Randy were amazing to get to know, and we hope that we made their Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session vision come to life through these images. Her dress is absolutely stunning, and the sand and water combo will be a breeze to have cleaned and preserved, so her dress can be cherished too, along with the photos.

While Mulberry & Sage is a Michigan professional photography team that specializes in documenting weddings, we seriously love love; all the chapters and the evolution that it goes through. we would love to chat. We hope that maybe this inspired you to dig out your dress from storage, throw it back on, and contact us to create some artistic memories for you. Maybe you have a big anniversary coming up? We don’t have to get in the water, or do anything crazy; we could simply take a stroll through a field and get some romantic photos of you with your forever love! Whatever you’re thinking, . We hope you enjoy this small preview into Nicolette and Randy’s Beach Trash the Dress Photography Session.

Jesse and Melissa were married September 30th 2017 at The Bean Dock on the beautiful St. Clair River, and we were thrilled they asked us to document their special day by being their Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer. The blue water, mixed with blue skies, made for a gorgeous early fall wedding day.

We arrived to their home early afternoon to document Melissa getting ready with her mom and bridesmaids. The small bridal party consisting of only family members made it so comfortable and welcoming that we felt right at home. Melissa’s mother helped her into her dress privately, while her girls waited outside. Once she was all laced into her corset-backed gown, we went outside and had the best ‘wow moment’ with the bridesmaids. Melissa was STUNNING. The reactions were priceless.

The ceremony was short and sweet performed by long time family friend from the Agostino side of the family. Stepping inside the venue, Melissa and Jesse’s hard work was everywhere you looked. There were so many handcrafted details, and that really made the decorations even more meaningful. We especially loved the additions to the children’s seating, where she placed a disposable camera and a list of ‘Eye Spy’ moments to capture. This helped the little ones get in on the action, and they had so much fun with it all night.

We decided to explore downtown Port Huron for the bridal party photos and it was a great choice for this adventurous group. We were taking photos outside the now-empty Harrington Inn when the caretakers invited us in. There is so much history inside, and we were so happy to preserve those memories for Melissa and Jesse before the Inn is closed for good. Of course, a stroll around Port Huron wouldn’t be complete without stopping into one of the bars downtown before we left. The bartenders at Lynch’s were so gracious, they let everyone behind the bar for tequila shots (whiskey for Courtney-peer pressure!)

Jesse’s hockey teammates formed an arch with their hockey sticks as the bridal party made their way into the reception; an entrance not to be soon forgotten. Our other favorite moments we captured were the emotions in the speeches to the bride and groom, Melissa and Jesse’s first dance under all the beautiful lights, and the gorgeous dessert bar with handmade flowers all around it. We suspect the grooms signature drink, The Michigan Mule made with Vernors & cherry vodka had something to do with all those great moves on the packed dance floor!

It was a fabulous night and we are so honored you choose us to document your day and be your Professional Port Huron Wedding Photographer. If you’re planning a wedding at The Bean Dock and are looking for a photographer, we’d love to connect and grab a coffee and chat!

On the 23rd day of September, Amanda and Lance said “I do” and promised their lives to each other, and we loved that they hired Mulberry & Sage Photography to document their very special day and be their Goodells Wedding Photographer. The day was one of the hottest days of the entire year, and just-so-happened to occur at the end of September, so it was a very interesting experience to photograph a fall wedding in 95 degree heat, but everyone was so relaxed, they just rolled along with it happily (and sweaty.)

Amanda and Lance wanted a country-themed wedding, and totally nailed it. Their fun details such as the camouflaged vests for the guys, and the cowboy boots that everyone in the party sported all day really brought the country heat (see that pun we did there?) and get it was still chic with the wildflower inspired bouquets, mixed with the big yellow sunflowers and wood decor every where. Amanda and Lance even exited the church to “Cowboy Take Me Away.” (Admittedly, one of Megan’s favorite songs, ever.)

Their ceremony took place at the little chapel on the Goodells Fair Grounds, and the reception occurred in Amanda’s parent’s back yard in Avoca. Their property is really pretty, with a pond and a tree planted as a memorial to Amanda’s grandparents who passed away. Their food was really yummy and was prepared and cooked by one of their groomsmen who owns a taco truck in the Detroit Metro Area. We love some good ole’ BBQ wedding comfort food, and it didn’t disappoint at all. Their two sons played a big role in their ceremony, and did a great job holding a handmade sign that read, “Daddy, Here Comes Mommy.” It was so sweet!

We hope you love this small preview into Amanda and Lance’s day, where we were their Goodells Wedding Photographer. If you’re getting married in Goodells, Michigan, we’d love the opportunity to chat with you about how we can document your special day as well.

Lexington Elopement Photographer | Kat & Nicholas

    Lexington Elopement Photographer

After spending a spur-of-the-moment Saturday afternoon in August with Kat and Nicholas, we have the opinion that everybody needs to witness or photograph and elopement like theirs sometime in their lives. Kat and Nick contacted us (literally) a week before their wedding day to be their Lexington Elopement Photographer. They were in the planning stages of coming over to this side of the state (they live in Kalamazoo, now) and get married on the shores of their special place in Lexington Heights, Michigan. They wanted a very small event, with only close friends and family present, and including their children into their day was also very important to them.

It was forecasted to severally storm that day, so instead, they had their ceremony in Kat’s parent’s back yard on their patio. Nick’s sister got ordained on the internet to perform their service, and surprised them by also putting together a sand ceremony to blend their lives together. Kat and Nicholas met in the theater, performing for the play A Streetcar Named Desire. Their ceremony was the most moving ceremony we’ve probably ever witnessed. They recited their own vows to each other, and even some Shakespeare was quoted at the end. After their kiss, they quickly went inside and got a champagne toast going, and the celebration began.

Remember how we mentioned the weather forecast? Well, it turned out to be a gorgeous day, and we spent some time after their ceremony in Lexington Heights doing some intimate portraits with the two of them, and then we met up in Lexington before their dinner reception for some larger group family shots. They had dinner on Lake Huron, and spent the day celebrating their love and new vows an promises to each other.

Kat was a stunning bride, but their love for each other really shines through in these photos, and we couldn’t help but share some of our favorites with you. If you’re planning an elopement in Eastern Michigan, we’d love to discuss becoming your Lexington Elopement Photographer. We have smaller packages available, perfect for an intimate elopement celebration!

Port Huron Wedding Photographer Team | Gillian & Charlie

    Port Huron Wedding Photographer Team

We have so many details that we want to share from Gillian and Charlie’s Port Huron wedding, we hardly know where to start. Last fall, Gillian and Charlie contacted us to be their Port Huron Wedding Photographer Team. They were originally planning a wedding for August, however, when their ideal date opened up at the venue, their August wedding changed into a September wedding, and it couldn’t have been a more perfect day.

We started the day photographing Gillian getting ready and her parent’s gorgeous house on Black River. The mood was fun, and festive, and we loved all the nautical details around the home. Gillian is an avid sailor and has a sail boat and was practically born with her sea legs, so we really loved incorporating those small details around her parents house, such as the antique models, and the book her Grandfather wrote, into her wedding detail shots. We loved the reveal she had with her Dad, and the special bond that we captured between the two of them, as well.

Then we headed over to the picturesque St. John’s United Church of Christ in Port Huron, and spent some time with Charlie and his ultra-fun group of groomsmen. From there, the ceremony went off without a hitch, and we were able to spend some time after the service capturing the beauty of the old church with some portraits up front, and inside at the alter, as well. Gillian and Charlie literally tied the knot during their ceremony, and we loved witnessing and photographing that moment.

After that, we cruised around Port Huron in their party bus, and stopped off at some of our favorite downtown Port Huron locations for portraits, before heading back to Gillian’s parent’s house again for more portraits- this time including their dog Zeppelin. He holds a special place in their hearts, and we loved those photos and memories they’ll have.

Their reception took place at the Blue Water Convention Center, and was simply beautiful. Once again, little nautical touches were all over the place and it was awesome. The party lasted well into the night, and the atmosphere was super fun.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into when we were Gillian & Charlie’s Port Huron Wedding Photographer Team. Please feel free to leave the couple some happy wishes in the comment section below. If you’re looking for professional wedding photographers in Port Huron, we’d love to connect!
