Tina’s Country House Wedding Photographer | Ashlee & David

Back in July, we were able to spend the day celebrating Ashlee & David’s wedding day, and being Tina’s Country House Wedding Photographers in Macomb County. This was the first time we have ever photographed a wedding there, and it was awesome to explore the grounds and gardens, and see a new and different wedding venue in Macomb County. The food was great, and we may (or may not) still have dreams of the cannolis that Tina’s hand makes, that were to die for. (Seriously. So good.)

Ashlee and David have a very sweet love story. Ashlee needed her car fixed, and a friend told her to take it to David. They met, and since then, have been inseparable. Ashlee has two boys from a previous relationship, and David stepped right in and loves the boys as if they are his own. It’s a sweet relationship to witness. Then, together, Ashlee and David had baby Roman (who kept giving me very serious faces all night long. Adorable.)

Their wedding at Tina’s Country House was so much fun. It was full of dancing and all around a giant party scene, so the candid photos that we captured throughout the day were some of our absolute favorites. We had so much fun joking right along with the bridal party and guests, and capturing the celebration of the entire day. Most of the details you see photographed are all hand made and crafted by Ashlee. She was literally hot gluing the groomsmen’s boutineers in the hotel room as she was getting her hair done; talk about some serious dedication! She crafted all the centerpieces, as well as all the floral arrangements that the bridal party used, and we loved the tiny little details that, we could tell, were made out of love.

Port Huron Engagement Photographers | Dan & Dani

We’re back with another beautiful preview into Dani & Dan’s session, where they hired us as their Port Huron Engagement Photographers. We can’t get enough of this engagement session at beautiful Ruby Lodge (Ruby Tree Farm) in Ruby, Michigan. This blog, featuring Dan and Dani’s engagement session, highlights just a few of our favorite locations, though there are so many other intimate spots located throughout Ruby, too. Now, back to Dan and Dani! To speak frankly, they are like peanut butter and jelly. They are so different, (he likes video games and eating eggs, she likes make-up and singing her heart out to 2000’s rock while driving) but put them together, and they become a power-duo made for each other. Seriously, their names even match.
Dan is a jokester (we love this for sessions) and Dani always laughs at everything that he says, making them the perfect pair, yet again. Looking though their engagement session portraits, we think that this really shines true! We had such a fun time exploring the grounds, and joking alongside them both. We love doing engagement sessions prior to the wedding day, because it really gives us the chance to get to know a couple better, before the added stresses of the wedding day hits.

We have enjoyed capturing and documenting this part of their love story, and are looking forward to the next BIG chapter: their September 2017 wedding day! Thank you for letting Mulberry & Sage Photography be your trusted Port Huron engagement photographers.

Lexington Wedding Photographer | Hannah & Devin

Hannah and Devin contacted us earlier this year to be their Lexington Wedding Photographer for their upcoming June 2017 wedding happening at the Knights of Columbus in Lexington, Michigan. We loved getting to know Hannah and Devin and their families and family dynamics. They both come from very large families, and we really enjoyed watching their genuine interactions with each member of their families, from preschool-aged half brothers to infant nephews. We could immediately tell that family values are huge to Devin and Hannah, and that their special day was going to be filled with emotion, and jam-packed with love. (more…)

Ruby Lodge Wedding | Natasha & Dan

We were thrilled when Natasha contacted us back in 2016 to photograph her Ruby Lodge wedding in Ruby, Michigan. Courtney has known Natasha since she was four years old; they are old family friends.

Every detail in Natasha and Dan’s wedding was spot-on and beautiful. She recently opened up her very own floral crown business, so naturally her handmade floral crowns were on display and a main part in her wardrobe selection. She actually had five different dress choices, and left it up to her bridesmaids and family to help her narrow down her dress choice on the morning of. (And, we must say, her choices were stellar.)

As soon as she met Dan, everyone immediately knew that he was her soulmate. He complimented every single aspect of her life, and embraced Teagan, Natasha’s 2 year old daughter, as his own. He loves her so much, he even wrote a special part into their wedding day, where he presented Teagan with her very own ring to match theirs.

We love photographing weddings at Ruby Lodge. It feels like you’re stepping into another area, and has almost a Northern-Michigan feel, between the massive pine trees and the 40 acre inland lake ceremony location. We also love how many beautiful locations there are to choose from when photographing there, from the rustic green barn, to the tree-lined road.

The reception was very fun; their first dance was to Say You Won’t Let Go by James Arthur. It was perfect for Natasha and Dan, and Dan even broke out into song at one point, singing along sweetly. Teagan even danced alongside them, and we don’t think there was a single dry eye in the house. It really resonated with us, because it was a very comforting song, and really made it feel like he was going to take care of his girls forever.

Mulberry & Sage Blog | Port Huron Bean Dock Wedding Photographer

Last fall, we were lucky enough to spend a rainy Saturday autumn day with Gerrid and Lauren and be their Port Huron Bean Dock Wedding Photographer. Photographing in Port Huron is something that will never get old for us. Here’s a fun rabbit-trail moment : all three of us were raised here locally, and all three of us moved away in our 20’s. Then, we all recently returned to the Blue Water Area as professional photographers. What that means is that we truly know some great areas to explore for photos. There are so many hidden gems that are around Port Huron, that are seriously perfect for weddings and wedding photos, and it doesn’t have to only be viewed as “pretty” on bright, sunshiny days in the middle of summer.

Gerrid and Lauren’s wedding was the perfect example of that fact. It was last fall, however, when the day of the wedding arrived, it was pouring down rain. But we didn’t let that put a damper on their wedding day parade (so many puns there!) They got ready at a pretty church in Marysville, where we did a sweet first-look, and then everyone piled into a party bus and we went exploring the area for fun photo locations that had close-by shelter, in case the sky opened up and rained again. We were very lucky, and had about a 2 hour window in the middle of the day that had intermittent rain, but nothing terrible.

Their ceremony and reception was in the Bean Dock in Port Huron, and it was awesome to see the warehouse get transformed into a beautiful area, full of pretty details, purple and white flowers, and all of Gerrid & Lauren’s loved ones, beaming with love as they watched them tie the knot. Their adorable bulldog named Bowzer was even their ring bearer! They had a super-fun reception, and their friends were laughing and partying alongside them, all night.
