Metro Detroit Weddings | Brittany & Phil

    Metro Detroit Weddings

We met Brittany last winter and immediately clicked with her bubbly and outgoing personality, and were thrilled when she chose us to be a part of her Metro Detroit Wedding that was set to take place on September 20th at the Crystal Gardens in Howell, Michigan. We love exploring new places, and, after a decent amount of online investigation (ie: internet trolling) we were so stoked to be their Crystal Gardens wedding photographer, because the grounds looked beautiful in photos.

Brittany works as an esthetician, and loves her (now husband) Phil like crazy. The two of them literally beam when they talk about each other, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Phil cried during their personalized vow to each other, and referred to her lovingly as “My Pretty Girl.” He loves Brittany, and duck hunting, and Brittany loves supporting both of those passions. She even special ordered a duck feather bow tie for him to wear for their Metro Detroit wedding, and had a cake topper (and many other!) duck hunting details around the room and day, that payed homage to his hobby. They also have a (large) group of best friends who love each other fiercely, and support each other like family (and many are actually family, too.) Their bridal party may actually set a record for us; there were 24 people and it was loud, silly, and insanely fun to watch them interact with each other, and get to know all the different personalities during our time being their Crystal Gardens wedding photographers. We started the day at Brittany and Phil’s home, and did their first look and bridal party photos there, before we headed over to Crystal Gardens. Their backyard was beautiful, and we loved the tall pine trees, and the way the sun peeked out through them.

Brittany had every single detail mapped out perfectly, from her own personal home full of wedding-ready details (she must have taken note from our Wedding day tips page!) to the beautiful reception hall. We could seriously gush about Brittany and Phil for ages, because they are the cutest and most friendly couple you could ever imagine, but, at this point, we’ll let the photos of their Metro Detroit Wedding do the rest of the talking. If you’re engaged and in the market for your Metro Detroit Weddings photographer, we would love to connect with you. We are currently booking 2019 and 2020 weddings, and we would love to document your special day. We hope you enjoy this small glimpse into Brittany and Phil’s special day.

Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team | Dani & Dan

Dan and Danielle were married on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the gorgeous Ruby Lodge Rental in Ruby, Michigan. You may remember them from their engagement session that we featured on the blog in the early summer. We were absolutely thrilled to spend the day being their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team, and loved documenting their special day and moments.

One simply set foot into the venue, and all of Dani’s hard work and love was so evident, every where you looked. She thought of everything, and her theme was seriously stunning to see in person. We’re a tad bit obsessed with the deep reds, mixed with the rustic wooden touches and the ultra-glam and sparkly rose gold sequins. Dan’s daughter Kyla was a big part of the day, as well, acting as a wonderful flower girl (we loved her look of concentration walking down the aisle!) and then together, they shared a special father/daughter dance to My Girl by The Temptations that may (or may not?) have rendered us wiping a stray tear or two away from behind our cameras. (Hey, we have feelings too, ok?!)

One of the trio of photographers here at Mulberry & Sage was actually in the bridal party, so it was a great time to spend the day blending friendship, and working together to get some candid and awesome shots throughout the day. We love photographing at the Ruby Tree Farm because you don’t even have to leave the property during the portrait session; there are so many amazing locations and spots to photograph, and towards the end of their portrait time, the sun was beautifully peeking out behind the large pine trees, and it (along with Dani) was breathtakingly beautiful.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Dani and Dan’s wedding day where Mulberry & Sage Photography was their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team. If you’re engaged and looking for a professional wedding photography team, we’d love to chat. hello@mulberryandsage.com

Destination Wedding Photographer | Jay & Lisa

    Destination Wedding Photographer

James (Jay) & Lisa were married in Hocking Hills Ohio at Crocketts Run, and we were so excited when they hired Mulberry & Sage to be their destination wedding photographer. The wedding was more like a vacation for the guests; the fun started Friday with canoeing and hiking in Old Man’s Cave. The resort had multiple cabins on site so it was perfect for family friends to relax and enjoy the weather and scenery, all while being able to walk to the lodge where the venue was. It’s the perfect location for 2 families joining together and celebrating a marriage.

The whole atmosphere was so incredibly laid- back, and it helped that they included lots of friends to help them with their day, from hair and makeup, officiant, music, & even photography (Courtney has known Lisa for at least 10 years now; she was her sister’s roommate in college, and they always joked she was the dark haired version of her sister, because they are so alike in personality. They also dub her their “5th sister.”) The officiant had a funny story, because he is a long time friend and neighbor, and Lisa gave him the choice to stay home and watch all her farm animals while she was away, or get certified to marry them. It was his first wedding. His wife played the guitar and sang beautifully for the ceremony and their first dance.

Lisa brought all the rustic decorations with her from home,  and needed 4 trucks/SUV’s to get it all to the location. She even brought the whiskey barrels, and hand-stained all the lanterns on the table. Her bridesmaids also helped her assemble all the bouquets the morning of the wedding.

Lisa wore white Birkenstock sandals with her dress, and they came in handy as we hiked through the caves for the bride and groom portraits.

Jay and Lisa had a first look, which she called the ‘wow moment’ that we want to steal for all our clients now. She had no idea, but was delivered a 3 page letter right before seeing Jay, that he wrote, telling her all the reasons he was excited to marry her. The cabin we posed in front of was from the late 1800’s & was the original cabin at the now-resort.

Jay was born a city guy and from the suburbs, but we all knew he was right for Lisa when he didn’t hesitate to jump into the farming lifestyle together with her. They have a wide variety of animals that he shares the workload and responsibility for. He even owns his very own Carhartt now, and we all agree that he is a certified “country boy” from all the experiences Lisa introduced him too.

Lisa’s daddy/daughter dance was super cute because what started as a dance between the two of them quickly turned into a family affair when, one by one, her 2 sisters, brother and mother jumped in to join them. Her dad looked so proud, and it was the sweetest moment.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Lisa and Jay’s big day. If you’re in the market for a destination wedding photographer, we’d love to chat with you!
