Port Huron Elks Lodge Banquet Facility Wedding Photographer | Karen & Roger

Port Huron Elks Club Wedding PhotographerWe first met with Karen and Roger last year, when they contacted us on a referral from another local photographer. They were planning their June wedding and were in the market for a Port Huron Elks Lodge Banquet Facility Wedding Photographer, and we had the date open and we liked each other’s vibes. We couldn’t wait for their June wedding to come, because all the little details that the two of them gave us sounded amazing, and they seriously were.

Roger has been golfing at the Elks Lodge for a long time, and so getting married there was an obvious choice for the two of them. They were supposed to get married on the greens, but, unfortunately, the rainy morning and early afternoon put a halt to those plans and the ceremony got moved indoors, instead. The ceremony was lovely, and we especially loved that Karen’s sons walked her down the aisle to meet her beaming groom.

The room and decor were seriously stunning, and we walked around all night long ogling over all the small details that went into their space. The room was adorned with hand crocheted pieces that they salvaged from Roger’s parent’s home, antique vases, handmade items, and succulents. All the succulents! We’re mildly obsessed with succulents and greenery, so everything was a dream to photograph.

Karen and Roger were both amazing sports; Karen hopped on to a golf cart while it was still raining just a bit and explored the grounds with us for their portraits, and Roger made sure that no one got pegged in the face with a golf ball, since the area we were wanting to photograph them in was literally at the end of the 18th hole (we don’t promise to know a single thing about the actual game.)

At the end of the night, they surprised their guests with a fireworks show, and we were so glad that the rain held back so everyone was able to enjoy them together. Those are some of our favorite images of the night!

We hope you enjoy this small preview into when Mulberry & Sage was Karen and Roger’s Port Huron Elks Lodge Banquet Facility Wedding Photographer team. If you’re looking for a Port Huron wedding photographer, we would love to chat about your upcoming wedding.

  • Metro Detroit Engagement Photographer | Alyse & Paul

Metro Detroit Engagement Photographer | Alyse & Paul

Metro Detroit Engagement PhotographerWe met Alyse on Saturday afternoon at a Starbucks in Macomb. She was referred to us by a fellow professional Metro Detroit engagement photographer, and we were excited to hear all about her upcoming October 2018 wedding in Fenton.

As we were driving up, we giggled that her venue, the Vale Royal Barn, looked stunning, and, if she liked rustic and country, we were her perfect professional photography team. You see, Courtney is a fourth generation farmer. Her family property is home to many heads of cattle, a bunch of horses, and acres of land for their hay company. And I (Megan) am what I like to refer to as a “wanna-be farmer.” Meaning, my husband and I watched far too many homesteading type shows, and when we moved back to Michigan a couple years ago, made it a point to buy a home on 10 acres so we could grow our current “hobby farm.” Needless to say, Courtney and I love the Michigan countryside, and barn weddings will always hold a special place in our hearts.

We immediately clicked with Alyse, and were laughing the entire time. That night, after going home and talking with her fiance Paul, she booked us for her Fenton wedding. She had mentioned during our meetup that she loved barns, and farm animals, and would love to have her engagement session on a farm. Luckily, we happen to know some great places to go for that. Paul and Alyse were gracious enough to make the trek up to the Port Huron area to Courtney’s family property, and spend the very next day with us outside in the cold for their engagement photo session. It wasn’t your typical engagement session. It involved herding cows, laughing at too-curious horses, and lots of breaks to warm up from the 20 degree weather. But it was perfect. We loved the magical element that the snow brought to the photos. We loved their quirky and hysterical love. And we cannot wait until their wedding in October where we will be their Metro Detroit wedding photographer team.

If you’re in the market for a Metro Detroit Engagement Photographer, we would love to connect with you. We promise, we love fun engagement sessions, and want them to be the perfect experience for each individual couple and your unique love story. Royal Oak Wedding Photographer | Ann & Brian

    Royal Oak Wedding Photographer

On October 7th, we got the chance to spend the day watching Ann and Brian commit their lives to each other, and be their Royal Oak Wedding Photographer team for the day. Ann and Brian are both very active in their church, so getting married at The National Shrine of the Little Flower Basilica was important to them, as well as having their favorite Priest perform their ceremony. And we completely agreed; he did an amazing job and we loved watching their special relationship as a couple shine through his sermon and address for the day.

We began by taking some gorgeous portraits of Ann in a room which held some sentiment for her and her family. Her older sister (And matron of honor) got married at the same church, and her absolute favorite photo from her wedding day is a portrait of her before the ceremony, looking out the decorative and ornate windows in the prep room; so of course we had to recreate that moment with Ann, and we are so glad we did that. It’s easily one of our favorite images of their special day, as well.

Then after the ceremony and mass service, we stepped outdoors into their beautiful garden area for some bridal party photos which we loved. We then took a short little trip over to a church about 15 minutes away that both Ann and Brian loved, and wanted to do their portraits in front of. Oh my goodness, the grounds were seriously stunning and we can’t get enough of those photos from their day.

Ann and Brian’s wedding reception was at The Bird & The Bread in Birmingham, Michigan. The food was delicious, and we loved all the uplighting that the room had, and how the space was perfect for their theme. The pillars are decorated with a rustic wooden tree-vibe, and it really tied all of their details together so well.

Everything was wonderful, and we loved being their Royal Oak Wedding Photographer team. If you’re looking for a Metro-Detroit wedding photographer, we’d love to connect with you and set up a consultation. We hope you enjoy this small preview into Ann & Brian’s wedding day.

Professional Port Huron Photographer | Jenny & John

    Professional Port Huron Photographer

Last weekend, we spent the evening exploring Beard’s Hill with Jenny and John, being their Professional Port Huron Photographer. Jenny and John met when they were in high school, and have been together ever since. They have a super fun and goofy relationship with each other, and we loved being able to capture it and document their playfulness during their engagement photography session.

Fall in Michigan is a favorite of ours. While we love being on the beach during the ultra-hot days of summer, there is just something special about putting on a cozy sweater and stepping outside into the brisk fall weather. This year, we have actually had a really hot fall, thus far, however, on the day of Jenny and John’s engagement session, there was a small break from the 90 degree days, and it felt like actual, legit fall weather. (Yay!) We planned to do a sunset session up at Beard’s Hill, which provides a stunning location for a session because it’s so varied. We started out by the hiking trails and stream, and got some beautiful photos of the two of them with big giant sun rays peeking through the large trees.

We then drove up to another location within the same area, that has a large tree overhanging the river that John really liked. As I was having a fun idea for a pose that came to my mind, I asked them to sit down next to a wall that had some street art painted on it. As they were about to sit, John kicked at the ground and said, “Oops, here’s a small snake.” Like a rockstar, Jenny didn’t even hesitate to sit down right afterward and when I commended her for her bravery, she stated, “Snakes don’t bother me. Spiders do.” I laughed because I am actually the exact same way. We spent a few minutes hanging out doing photos in that spot, when I looked into my camera viewfinder to see a GIGANTIC black and yellow spider, perched precariously inches away from her head. Being not-great with hiding things, I gasped loudly and told her calmly to get up quickly, without turning her head. After she did that, she looked back and we both had our own dramatic freak out moment. I’m sure it’s something we’ll look back on and laugh about soon. But, needless to say, Jenny gets some major kudos for being adventurous and calm in the face of danger.

We ended the session as the sun went down at the top of the Beard Hill overlook. It literally feels like you’re on the top of the world, and can see the entire county from this vantage point. The trees were sun-kissed, and beginning to turn their various shades of yellow and reds for fall, and it was the perfect night for an engagement session in Port Huron. We always like to somehow incorporate the engagement ring into the elements of their engagement session, so it was perfectly fitting that John found a pretty weed that stood strong in the middle of the rocks, with a single pretty blue flower blooming proudly. It made for the perfect setting, and we really love the macro photography shot of that.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into Jenny & John’s engagement session where we were their Professional Port Huron Photographer. If you’re engaged, and looking for a wedding photographer in Michigan, we’d love to chat with you.

  • Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team | Dani & Dan

Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team | Dani & Dan

Dan and Danielle were married on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the gorgeous Ruby Lodge Rental in Ruby, Michigan. You may remember them from their engagement session that we featured on the blog in the early summer. We were absolutely thrilled to spend the day being their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team, and loved documenting their special day and moments.

One simply set foot into the venue, and all of Dani’s hard work and love was so evident, every where you looked. She thought of everything, and her theme was seriously stunning to see in person. We’re a tad bit obsessed with the deep reds, mixed with the rustic wooden touches and the ultra-glam and sparkly rose gold sequins. Dan’s daughter Kyla was a big part of the day, as well, acting as a wonderful flower girl (we loved her look of concentration walking down the aisle!) and then together, they shared a special father/daughter dance to My Girl by The Temptations that may (or may not?) have rendered us wiping a stray tear or two away from behind our cameras. (Hey, we have feelings too, ok?!)

One of the trio of photographers here at Mulberry & Sage was actually in the bridal party, so it was a great time to spend the day blending friendship, and working together to get some candid and awesome shots throughout the day. We love photographing at the Ruby Tree Farm because you don’t even have to leave the property during the portrait session; there are so many amazing locations and spots to photograph, and towards the end of their portrait time, the sun was beautifully peeking out behind the large pine trees, and it (along with Dani) was breathtakingly beautiful.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Dani and Dan’s wedding day where Mulberry & Sage Photography was their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team. If you’re engaged and looking for a professional wedding photography team, we’d love to chat. hello@mulberryandsage.com
