Grand Haven Wedding Photographer | Diana & Ed

    Grand Haven Wedding Photographer

It isn’t very often that we get to double up and attend a friend’s wedding for fun, while also photographing it. Last weekend, we headed over to the western side of the state to be Ed & Diana’s Grand Haven wedding photographer for the evening. I’ve known Diana for the past 3+ years. If anyone knows me (Megan) you’ll know that my hair is kind of a big deal for me. Over the past 2 years, I’ve had super vibrant purple, and now pink, hair. At this point, I feel as if it’s “my thing” and Diana is the mastermind behind it all. She’s my hairstylist, and I visit her regularly every 6ish weeks, and even my kids go to her, too. It became a family affair last year too, when her sister opened up a St. Clair county house cleaning service, and has been my sanity lifesaver cleaning my home.

Diana met Ed in downtown Port Huron. They immediately hit it off, and their romance has been fun to watch progress on facebook, and hear updates about at appointments.  The two of them love going to the beach and spending time in their boat, so a destination wedding beach themed was perfect for the two of them and their love story. They have far too many loving family and friends to plan a super-far-away destination, so they chose to head over to west Michigan and get hitched on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan on a beautiful day in August.

Everyone traveled over, and got to work early in the morning getting ready for their 11am ceremony time. The crew at My Barefoot Wedding did an awesome job with the ceremony, and setting it up so that Diana and Ed didn’t have to worry about a single thing. After the ceremony and photos, Diana and Ed went to the harbor and hopped on a boat that took them directly to their reception location an hour later, which was on the marina. Everyone went outside and welcomed the happy couple back to land. Their reception was lively and full of fun, and included a sweet heartfelt speech from Ed to Diana, and even a choreographed first dance. We were able to sneak out quietly when the sun set, and do some photos on the docks of the marina that are easily my favorites of the entire day. While we were there, a boat owner offered to let them on his beautiful boat for photos, too.

I had an absolutely amazing time being Ed & Diana’s  Grand Haven wedding photographer, and if you are looking for a destination wedding photographer team, we would love to sit down and chat, or even do a Skype call to talk about your dream wedding day & how we can turn those memories into photos you’ll cherish and share forever.

Our Favorite Wedding Moments of 2017 | Part Two

    Wedding Moments of 2017

Earlier this week we brought you all our favorite bridal trends that we saw happen this past year, while also making a promise that we would be back later with the rest of our weddings from 2017, because, frankly, they were all too amazing in their own ways. Instead of focusing on the trends though, we wanted to switch it up and chat about some of our favorite moments that we documented this past year. Often times, as professional wedding photographers, we look back at weddings and will remember certain aspects or tidbits of things that stood out from other weddings, and we love witnessing those, and sharing them. So this blog post is devoted to our favorite wedding moments of 2017. We can’t wait to share more upcoming wedding moments with you in 2018, too!  (more…)

Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team | Dani & Dan

Dan and Danielle were married on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the gorgeous Ruby Lodge Rental in Ruby, Michigan. You may remember them from their engagement session that we featured on the blog in the early summer. We were absolutely thrilled to spend the day being their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team, and loved documenting their special day and moments.

One simply set foot into the venue, and all of Dani’s hard work and love was so evident, every where you looked. She thought of everything, and her theme was seriously stunning to see in person. We’re a tad bit obsessed with the deep reds, mixed with the rustic wooden touches and the ultra-glam and sparkly rose gold sequins. Dan’s daughter Kyla was a big part of the day, as well, acting as a wonderful flower girl (we loved her look of concentration walking down the aisle!) and then together, they shared a special father/daughter dance to My Girl by The Temptations that may (or may not?) have rendered us wiping a stray tear or two away from behind our cameras. (Hey, we have feelings too, ok?!)

One of the trio of photographers here at Mulberry & Sage was actually in the bridal party, so it was a great time to spend the day blending friendship, and working together to get some candid and awesome shots throughout the day. We love photographing at the Ruby Tree Farm because you don’t even have to leave the property during the portrait session; there are so many amazing locations and spots to photograph, and towards the end of their portrait time, the sun was beautifully peeking out behind the large pine trees, and it (along with Dani) was breathtakingly beautiful.

We hope you love this small glimpse into Dani and Dan’s wedding day where Mulberry & Sage Photography was their Ruby Tree Farm Wedding Photography Team. If you’re engaged and looking for a professional wedding photography team, we’d love to chat. hello@mulberryandsage.com

Lexington Elopement Photographer | Kat & Nicholas

    Lexington Elopement Photographer

After spending a spur-of-the-moment Saturday afternoon in August with Kat and Nicholas, we have the opinion that everybody needs to witness or photograph and elopement like theirs sometime in their lives. Kat and Nick contacted us (literally) a week before their wedding day to be their Lexington Elopement Photographer. They were in the planning stages of coming over to this side of the state (they live in Kalamazoo, now) and get married on the shores of their special place in Lexington Heights, Michigan. They wanted a very small event, with only close friends and family present, and including their children into their day was also very important to them.

It was forecasted to severally storm that day, so instead, they had their ceremony in Kat’s parent’s back yard on their patio. Nick’s sister got ordained on the internet to perform their service, and surprised them by also putting together a sand ceremony to blend their lives together. Kat and Nicholas met in the theater, performing for the play A Streetcar Named Desire. Their ceremony was the most moving ceremony we’ve probably ever witnessed. They recited their own vows to each other, and even some Shakespeare was quoted at the end. After their kiss, they quickly went inside and got a champagne toast going, and the celebration began.

Remember how we mentioned the weather forecast? Well, it turned out to be a gorgeous day, and we spent some time after their ceremony in Lexington Heights doing some intimate portraits with the two of them, and then we met up in Lexington before their dinner reception for some larger group family shots. They had dinner on Lake Huron, and spent the day celebrating their love and new vows an promises to each other.

Kat was a stunning bride, but their love for each other really shines through in these photos, and we couldn’t help but share some of our favorites with you. If you’re planning an elopement in Eastern Michigan, we’d love to discuss becoming your Lexington Elopement Photographer. We have smaller packages available, perfect for an intimate elopement celebration!

  • Macomb County Wedding Photography | Ashley & Jeff

Macomb County Wedding Photography | Ashley & Jeff

    Macomb County Wedding Photography

We love being wedding photographers in the Metro-Detroit area, and were thrilled when Ashley and Jeff contacted us to do their Macomb County Wedding Photography.

We’re just going to start out by saying Ashley had one of the most gorgeous wedding dresses we’ve ever seen. Everyone (including us) was obsessed with it. We now know what it means to “swoon.” The beauty didn’t end there though. Jeff and Ashley had a gorgeous wedding day, across the board. The temperatures were in the low 70’s, with plenty of sunshine. Their wedding ceremony and reception was held at a private country club, Burning Tree Golf & Country Club of Macomb. The ceremony took place on their fabulous patio facing the golf greens and was a perfect backdrop. Jeff and Ashley chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other, and the anticipation was worth it. Jeff’s face was priceless when he saw his bride for the first time.

After the ceremony, the club lent us golf carts and we got to explore their grounds. There were so many picture- perfect locations for photos we could have kept shooting all evening. But it’s safe to say it was for the best that we got back to the reception. I’m not sure what it is about getting a bridal party on golf carts but the crazy definitely comes out in the most entertaining way. Just a friendly reminder-golf carts are not bumper cars! I’m glad we made it back in one piece.

One of my favorite moments was Jeff spinning Ashley around the dance floor. Watching the two of them together was so sweet. The rest of the night went by in a blur. The food was delicious, the drinks were plenty and we can testify that everyone had a great time. It’s so nice to see the dance floor packed with couples of all ages. Shout out to Ashley’s mom-I don’t think she ever left it! We are always so happy when our couples find their perfect match and we wish them a lifetime of happiness.

If you’re in the market for Macomb County Wedding Photography, or have a wedding booked at Burning Tree, we’d love to chat with you and discuss your upcoming wedding and how our team can fit seamlessly into it.
