Lake Huron Wedding Photography | Elizabeth & Charles

Harbor Beach Wedding Photography Elizabeth & Charles were married on Friday, June 25th, 2021. The weather called for 100% chance of rain and we were a little nervous since the wedding was taking place at Elizabeth’s family cottage. She mentioned, “if it rains, we will just have to squeeze around the living room.” It is always our goal to provide a large variety of gorgeous images- so as we drove north along the coast and it was pouring rain, we weren’t sure what to expect. By the time we arrived to do their Lake Huron Wedding Photography, the skies weren’t as dark and the rain was lightening up. As soon as we turned onto Elizabeth’s road we felt we were transported some place magical that we had never been before. Each cottage we passed was grander than the last. All of them made of the most stunning natural materials like logs, cedar shake, and stone. As we parked in front of the beautiful blue cottage we already knew we never wanted to leave.

Elizabeth’s great-great grandfather built the cottage in the early 1900’s and entering the front door it felt as if time stood still. Elizabeth and Charlie were relaxed and excited for the day ahead, despite the unsettled weather. Even though the wedding was small, every detail was so well thought out. The rain stopped just in time for the ceremony and the couple said “I do” under a giant oak tree in the side yard. The tree was wrapped in simple fabric and you could see the lighthouse from the lake view in the back yard. Elizabeth’s & Charles’ face as the officiant announced them Mr. & Mrs. was full of joy.

We took cover as the rain started back up, and toasted to the couple with a special bottle of champagne sent from family. If you remember Elizabeth & Charles’ engagement session you would know they like their champagne. Happily again, the rain cleared just long enough for us to explore the land that Elizabeth roamed as a child. It was so fun getting a tour and glimpse into her childhood as we took photos in the “secret garden” where she used to hide out to read a book, and along the path where she would ride her bike. There are only about 20 homes on the 100 acres and they have stayed in the same families for over 100 years. We felt the peace and freedom of what it must have been like to spend summers in such a beautiful place. Did I mention we never wanted to leave? Even as the rain started back up we could have stayed all day. We are so happy for luck of the weather breaking and loved being a part of such an intimate and special day.

If you are looking for a wedding photographer to capture your event with thought & care (weddings big or small,) we would love to be included. Contact us for more information in documenting your love story.
