    Wedding Photographers in Michigan

We were thrilled to spend a beautiful early September day with Amanda and AJ being their wedding photographers in Michigan at Black River Country Club. The day was overcast with soft ambient light. The outdoor patio ceremony was followed by a beautiful tented reception. The leaves were just starting to turn and the with temperatures in the mid 60’s it felt like fall-which happens to be our favorite season!

Amanda chose to get ready with just her mom, which we loved. The personal connection and emotions we were able to capture will be the best memories to revisit over the years. Once Amanda got into her stunning corset-backed dress, she let her bridesmaids in for a sneak peek. No one had seen her dress yet so the reactions were priceless! More than a  few tears were shed.  Meanwhile, AJ spent the morning hanging out at a friends house and then met us on the grounds to finish getting ready. The guys were a rowdy group, but set the tone for a good time!

The ceremony was so sweet with personal vows wrote to each other and followed by family portraits. After that we were off in golf carts to explore the grounds for bridal party and bride and groom photos. I’m not sure what was more fun taking the photos, or the crazy ride avoiding golfers around the course! We had 1.5 hours between the ceremony and grand entrance so we were able to get so many great photos and really take our time. We think Amanda & AJ will have trouble deciding which photos to print first, which is an awesome problem to have!!

The rest of the night was spent dancing, drinking and eating. DJ Lee from Ultimate Sounds kept the dance floor packed. That is not an exaggeration- it was hard to get around the dancers which spread into the table area but we loved jumping right in! The energy and happiness was radiating from all their well wishing guests. We had such a great time documenting Amanda & AJ’s love story! If you’re looking for the best wedding photographers in Michigan, we would love to connect and be your gals!

    Michigan Wedding Photographers

We got to spend the Saturday before Labor day with April & Brian celebrating their love story and being their Michigan Wedding Photographers. It was a day filled with emotion and excitement that carried through the night. The ceremony took place at St John’s Church of Christ in Port Huron. It is a gorgeous church and one of the oldest in the area. Both bride and groom were able to get ready at the church and we loved photographing in the old historic and iconic church in Port Huron. We were able to go back and forth between the rooms without missing a moment. The ceremony went perfectly and you could feel the love and anticipation as April walked down the aisle towards Brian. Not even a bridesmaids dress zipper snafu, or flower girl with stage fright, could steal the spotlight!

After the ceremony,we rushed downtown to capture photos of the bridal party and photos of the bride and groom. We say rushed because the sky was black with an imminent storm. Within 15 minutes we were able to get a full gallery of images before the sky unleashed and the rain poured down.  That is the versatility of a downtown location with variation of backdrops only a few steps in each direction. The reception location was just a few minutes away at the grooms childhood home on Lake Huron. Even after the storm raged through nothing could touch the simple beauty of the tented reception with beach decor details. The sand, shell and sea-glass were everywhere-surrounding the cake and on the tables. It was truly beautiful and played into the hues of the bridesmaids dresses that reflected the colors of water. They say after every storm a rainbow appears and in our case it was true. We even got to witness the beauty of a double rainbow. That signaled all the good times to come and the rest of the night was spent dancing and singing at the top of our lungs. It was a fantastic party that guests won’t forget!

We hope you enjoy this preview into when we were April and Brian’s Michigan Wedding Photographers. If you’re in the market, we would love to chat.

Marysville Wedding Photographer | Jenny & John

We first met Jenny and John last summer when they hired us to be their Marysville Wedding Photographer team, and we did a super fun St. Clair County engagement session. I got to traipse through Beard Hill with them, and watch them joke and laugh together last year, and couldn’t wait to see them again and hang out with them on their special day that has been much anticipated by us all. The two of them met in high school, and have been together since. They have an adorable home in the area, and two amazing dogs that we got to know pretty well last Saturday. I (Megan) went and hung with the girls in the morning, and some of my favorite photos of the entire day are of Jenny and her squad in front of her neighbor’s barn. I was trying to get everyone out of the heat and sunshine (it was a scorcher!) and turned my head to be greeted with a beautiful rustic white barn, and a giant shady tree that served as the perfect backdrop for Jenny’s rustic themed wedding. Serena (who shoots weddings with us often; we joke that she’s the “silent 4th partner” in Mulberry & Sage) went and spent the getting-ready time with the guys, who had fun having a Nerf gun war, and enjoying each other’s company by cracking jokes and laughing.

Jenny and John got married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Clair, and then had their reception at Alexander’s in Marysville. We stopped off to do their portraits at Lincoln Park in Port Huron and the gazebo and gardens were a pretty little spot, that we had all to ourselves to roam freely. They also rented a party bus, to keep the party going from the beginning, until they walked into their fun reception. (I love how John was so excited, and swooped up Jenny and was tossing her around!) They have an adorable love that’s easy to capture, and Jenny and John’s laughing faces are my ultimate favorite, because it’s just so contagious. You can’t help but smile when you’re around them.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into Jenny and John’s day when we were their Marysville Wedding Photographer team. If you’re getting married in the area, we would love to connect with you to become your wedding photographer.

  • Henderson Castle Wedding Photographer | Alana & Dan

Henderson Castle Wedding Photographer | Alana & Dan

    Henderson Castle Wedding Photographer

On Saturday, we had the privilege of exploring our awesome state yet again, and being a Henderson Castle wedding photographer team for the day. We loved having the opportunity to take a drive over to the west side of the state, and become Kalamazoo wedding photographers, because that side of the state is such a fun opposite from the Metro Detroit area that we are used to. The Henderson Castle Inn is a stunning little hidden gem tucked away in the hills of Kalamazoo. It overlooks downtown Kalamazoo, and was first built in 1895 by a local successful businessman, and his wife. It’s a Queen Anne style home, and was built with elaborate features of the time, such as 25 bedrooms, exquisite mahogany wood, an elevator, Lake Superior sandstone, 7 bathrooms, and a third floor ballroom. Since being their private residence, the Henderson Castle Inn has also been home Kalamazoo Art Center, and part of the Kalamazoo College. Since 2011, it has been renovated to pay homage to all it’s original charm, and is being run as a bed & breakfast and special events center. But it’s seriously perfect for weddings, and Alana was the perfect bride for it, because she is hardcore obsessed with Disney princesses, and always dreamed of marrying her soulmate Dan inside a real-life castle.

Alana and Dan have known each other since Kindergarten, and have been seriously dating for the past four years. They are the epitome of soulmates, and their demeanor with each other is adorable and heart-warming to watch and document. Alana loves all things princess, and Dan loves watching her excitement for it. They are from the Grand Blanc area, but he is actually the one that found the Henderson Castle and suggested it as a venue for Alana, and she instantly fell in love with it. Their wedding day was the perfect Michigan overcast day, which we love, because overcast days makes colors pop and come to life more than the bright sunny days like you’d imagine. One of their closest friends got ordained to marry them, and their outdoor ceremony was beautiful, and they were immediately whisked away by a horse drawn carriage while their guests enjoyed the wine made locally at the wine cave on the property. After portraits, we were able to pop up to the rooftop for about 5 minutes, and were greeted with a lovely sunset, and beautiful views overlooking Kalamazoo.

All in all, we loved our time that we were able to be a Henderson Castle wedding photographer team. If you’re looking for a Kalamazoo wedding photographer, we would love to chat with you; we love traveling around our picturesque state of Michigan!

Saginaw Wedding Photographer | Brooke & Mickey

    Saginaw Wedding Photographer

You may remember Brooke and Mike from their engagement photography session we did in Port Huron, and we were eagerly waiting for summer to be their Saginaw Wedding Photographer team. We drove up and explored the Saginaw area on the last weekend of July, and had an awesome time getting to see Brooke and Mickey again, and hang out with them for the entire day and meet some of their favorite people as they all celebrated their wedding day together.

Brooke and Mike (and their adorable daughter Willow) have been looking forward to this day for quite a while, and all the small pieces of the puzzle went together perfectly. The big thing they wanted to accomplish with their wedding is throwing an amazing party to celebrate, and they accomplished it perfectly. They hired a party bus, and even stopped at the local bar in the middle of the day after portraits were done to simply hang out with their friends and bridal party. We got to see a hysterical side to Mike and Brooke, as they heartily rapped to their favorite jams (do people still say “jams?” in reference to songs?) on the patio, and then it morphed to all the funny dances on the lively dance floor.

Brooke and Mike had their wedding at Apple Mountain in Freeland, and we loved being their Apple Mountain wedding photographer for the day, and exploring some of their gorgeous grounds after their ceremony.  Their wedding was behind the Kathleen’s area, and overlooked a pretty fountain and a couple of the ski hills. Our favorite part of their ceremony was when Willow decided she wanted to join in, and Mike picked her up and the three of them stood up at the front and went through the ceremony together. It was so relaxed and low key, and absolutely perfect for their little family. After we did the portraits and hit up a local bar, we headed to their gorgeous reception at The Golden Glow Ballroom in Saginaw. The dance floor was packed all night, and the bouquet and garter toss were seriously hysterical to capture.

I hope you enjoy this small preview into when we were Brooke and Mickey’s Saginaw Wedding Photographer team. If you’re looking for a Michigan wedding photographer, we love exploring our awesome state and traveling in the name of love. Please don’t hesitate to email us.
