    Solitude Links Wedding Photography

Jessica and Dan have an amazing love story, and we were so stoked when they chose us to do their Solitude Links Wedding Photography for their August 2019 wedding. The two of them met when Jess was still in high school, at church. In fact, we noticed that many of their lasting friendships started with “we met at church” or “we met at church camp.” Years passed, and Jess and Dan met up as adults once again, and fell in love. The two of them have a fun relationship, full of adoration, and adventure with each other. Between both of their busy graduate schools schedules, they planned a beautiful wedding at one of our favorite venues: Solitude Links Golf Course and Banquet Center. Then they headed off for a week long hiking trip in the Rocky Mountains outside of Denver.

Jess and Dan both got ready and had their first look at the house on the Solitude Links property, and it was beautiful to photograph inside and around. The guys were downstairs in the basement playing pool, Foosball, and euchre, while the girls were upstairs on the main floor primping and having a fun time hanging out with each other. Their first look was on the back patio area, as was Jess’ first look with her Dad. Then we went and did some bridal party photos, and relaxed for a bit before the outdoor ceremony started. The weather that day was literally perfect; it wasn’t too hot or too cold, and had big white puffy clouds and an epic sunset. In the spirit of adventure, the 4 of us headed out on a golf cart around the property, and found some beautiful wildflower fields, and then some stunning fluffy wheat colored grass for the evening sunset photos. We got so many looks and feels, all by staying on the grounds and exploring together. Sunset photos were important for the two of them, and we loved that special private time with them capturing them. Megan also made a fun .gif of their sunset dance, and posted it on our Facebook page; you should check it out.

We love being a preferred photography vendor for Solitude Links Weddings, and working with the friendly staff there throughout the season. If you are in the planning process and need Solitude Links Wedding Photography done, we would love to meet up with you and show your some galleries of weddings we’ve shot there, and how unique and lovely they all are. We hope you enjoy this preview into Jess and Dan’s special day.

We are so excited to showcase Anna and Kevin’s special wedding day on the blog, from when they hired Mulberry & Sage to be their Port Huron City Flats Wedding Photographer team for the day. We chatted with the two of them initially over the phone, because the two of them currently live in Florida. They met down there, but the fact that they were both from small midwest towns was a common bond that they loved about each other. Anna is from a small town in Wisconsin, and Kevin is from Port Huron, Michigan. His connection and roots run deep to the area, and we were thrilled to swap stories f the past of mutual friends (like our fellow downtown-business-owners, Kate, from Kate’s Downtown and Kati from Blossoming Affair.) He also grew up attending the historic Grace Episcopal Church, and their wedding ceremony there was important to the two of them, and since the church is so beautiful and historic, we were also thrilled.

We were also so excited to work with our favorite videographer for the day, Ackerman & Co. Kristin is such fun to work alongside, and the three of us really mesh well and have a fun friendship outside of the wedding day, so that makes it even better and more natural for everyone involved. Go check out the highlight film she created of Anna & Kevin’s day by clicking here.

Anna and Kevin’s wedding also marks our first official time photographing inside the newly renovated City Flats Hotel in Port Huron. It used to be the old Michigan National Bank, and has sat empty and abandoned for the past 10+ years. The location is stunning, and locals have always thought how sad it was that nothing was there, because it’s directly on the Black River, and has views of the beautiful St. Clair River, as well. CityFlatsHotel came in and decided to turn the old bank into a luxurious Ballroom on the bottom, and build some posh boutique style hotel rooms on the upper levels. The ballroom officially opened in the early summer of 2019, and we were anxiously waiting our turn to get inside and see it for ourselves. It’s seriously stunning, and we can’t wait to photograph there more often and show off our beautiful downtown Port Huron to everyone who is visiting the area. Anna and Kevin incorporated more charm into their day by cruising around between their ceremony and reception in the historic trolley, and swinging by the Blue Water Bridge for some photo ops before their epic and fiery entrance into their reception.

We hope you love this peek into when Mulberry & Sage was their Port Huron City Flats Wedding Photographer. If you’re looking for a Port Huron wedding photographer, we would love to hang out, show you our very own downtown Port Huron photography studio, and get to know you!

Grand Haven Wedding Photographer | Diana & Ed

    Grand Haven Wedding Photographer

It isn’t very often that we get to double up and attend a friend’s wedding for fun, while also photographing it. Last weekend, we headed over to the western side of the state to be Ed & Diana’s Grand Haven wedding photographer for the evening. I’ve known Diana for the past 3+ years. If anyone knows me (Megan) you’ll know that my hair is kind of a big deal for me. Over the past 2 years, I’ve had super vibrant purple, and now pink, hair. At this point, I feel as if it’s “my thing” and Diana is the mastermind behind it all. She’s my hairstylist, and I visit her regularly every 6ish weeks, and even my kids go to her, too. It became a family affair last year too, when her sister opened up a St. Clair county house cleaning service, and has been my sanity lifesaver cleaning my home.

Diana met Ed in downtown Port Huron. They immediately hit it off, and their romance has been fun to watch progress on facebook, and hear updates about at appointments.  The two of them love going to the beach and spending time in their boat, so a destination wedding beach themed was perfect for the two of them and their love story. They have far too many loving family and friends to plan a super-far-away destination, so they chose to head over to west Michigan and get hitched on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan on a beautiful day in August.

Everyone traveled over, and got to work early in the morning getting ready for their 11am ceremony time. The crew at My Barefoot Wedding did an awesome job with the ceremony, and setting it up so that Diana and Ed didn’t have to worry about a single thing. After the ceremony and photos, Diana and Ed went to the harbor and hopped on a boat that took them directly to their reception location an hour later, which was on the marina. Everyone went outside and welcomed the happy couple back to land. Their reception was lively and full of fun, and included a sweet heartfelt speech from Ed to Diana, and even a choreographed first dance. We were able to sneak out quietly when the sun set, and do some photos on the docks of the marina that are easily my favorites of the entire day. While we were there, a boat owner offered to let them on his beautiful boat for photos, too.

I had an absolutely amazing time being Ed & Diana’s  Grand Haven wedding photographer, and if you are looking for a destination wedding photographer team, we would love to sit down and chat, or even do a Skype call to talk about your dream wedding day & how we can turn those memories into photos you’ll cherish and share forever.

Oakland County Michigan Wedding Photographer | Erin & Chris

    Oakland County Michigan Wedding Photographer

Erin and Chris tied the knot on the first weekend in August at the beautiful Brentwood Golf Club & Banquet Center. We were thrilled when they chose Mulberry & Sage as their Oakland County Michigan Wedding Photographer team for the evening. Oakland County is one of the larger areas in Eastern Michigan and within the Metro Detroit area. We had never photographed at Brentwood, so it was great exploring the area, and getting to know the grounds of a whole new location.

Erin and Chris chose to do an intimate first look prior to their ceremony. We drove with the golf carts (have we mentioned how much fun we think golf carts are?!) to a remote location that we seriously loved. The rock wall and the tunnel photos are some of our absolute favorites of their entire day. If you haven’t had the chance yet, head over to the Mulberry & Sage Facebook page and check out the fun GIF (which we’re told is actually pronounced “jif”) that we were able to make with their twirling sequence photos.

Erin and Chris were rock stars that day. They had a series of unfortunate events of things that went logistically “wrong” on their wedding day, and yet they managed to power through the day and put on a happy face so that no one else was able to ever notice it. The two of them overcame many curve balls for the day, and that makes us confident that they will tackle their married life together with grace and dignity.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into Erin & Chris’ wedding day, when we were their Oakland County Michigan Wedding Photographer team. If you are in the Metro Detroit area and searching for a wedding photographer, we would love to get together and meet with you, and learn all about your special day and how we can seamlessly fit into it and capture your love story and those precious memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. Michigan Destination Wedding Photographer | Rachel & Adam

    Michigan Destination Wedding Photographer

Courtney has been friends with Rachel for a long time, so when she contacted Mulberry & Sage to be her Michigan Destination Wedding Photographer, we were so excited to spend a beautiful Friday in July with them. Rachel and Adam were married at The Milestone Barn in Bannister, Michigan. We love being Michigan destination wedding photographers, because it gets us out of our comfort zone and gives us the opportunity to explore the state and the country, while doing what we love. (Documenting your love story!)

Rachel and Adam have a sweet relationship with each other, and truly value friends and family, above all else. Adam’s stepfather got ordained and married them and he seriously nailed it. He should do it full time. During their heartfelt vows to each other, there were no dry eyes anywhere. Their vows were handwritten and had everyone sobbing. Rachel even started hers first and was like,” nope Adam you have to go” because she immediately started crying so hard. It was so cute and really made their wedding and passion to each other stand out to us, in the photos, and to everyone witnessing their beautiful union.

They’ve been together for a long time, their families all made jokes that its about time. Her sister Jessica roasted her a little about it in her maid of honor speech. Speaking of siblings, Rachel’s sister was her maid of honor, and Adam’s brother was his best man. It all circles back to the importance of their family, and the huge vital role it plays in their lives, and relationships. Rachel’s bouquet honored both her grandmothers by having their broaches incorporated into them. They have both passed away, but this sweet little detail was close to her heart, and was a special way to honor them and their spirits on their joyful wedding day.

One of their big passions is travel. They honeymooned in Thailand and travel is very important to them. They are spending the next couple years traveling for Rachel’s job. We love following her on Facebook and watching their epic journeys come to life through photos, and tales of life abroad.

They have a huge group of friends that celebrated with them. Their guests enjoyed fun lawn games, good food and drinks, and danced and partied the night away with them.

We hope you enjoy this small preview into when Mulberry & Sage was Rachel and Adam’s Michigan Destination Wedding Photographer. We have a few more destination weddings and engagement sessions lined up in August, so make sure you are paying attention to the blog to see more of our explorations around the beautiful state of Michigan. If you’re looking for an experienced Michigan Destination Wedding Photographer team, we would love to chat.
