Solitude Links Covid Wedding Port Huron | Ceil & John

    Covid wedding Port Huron

I will never forgot meeting Ceil for the first time inside one of our favorite Downtown Port Huron coffee shops, The Exquisite Corpse. She met us along with her daughter in law and maid of honor, Julie. We had a latte, shook hands goodbye, and were excited to photograph her upcoming July wedding at Solitude Links. That date was March 11th, and if I would have known that that was the last time I’d leisurely sit in a coffee shop and look around and see the full smiling faces of people laughing and talking, I’d like to think I would have soaked it all in a bit more, because two days later I got a phone call at 6:00am that school was cancelled for the next two weeks (sigh. two weeks. Remember that?) I sent Ceil over her contract that day, and specifically remember thinking “I’m glad this will have all blown over at the end of July.” Courtney and I discussed the 4H Fair that was scheduled to happen the week leading up to Ceil’s wedding date, and chatted about back up plans in case one of her girl’s had a horse show that day. Flash forward to 4 months later, and we were able to finally photograph Ceil and John’s special day, Covid wedding style, and who could have ever guessed in March what that would have looked like. (Spoiler: it was stunning and so special and unique.) (more…)

  • Port Huron Intimate Wedding | Kristen & Dominic

Port Huron Intimate Wedding | Kristen & Dominic

Port Huron intimate weddingKristen and Dominic were one of our first 2020 weddings that we booked back in March of 2019. They both live in the Grand Rapids area, and loved Solitude Links and found us because of our website and past work done there. We met up at our old Port Huron photography studio (womp womp. We miss that place.) and got to know each other a bit. We learned that they love to travel, and met while being lifeguards at the city pool together. And most of all? We learned and saw just how much they love each other; that was obvious right from the start. Their Port Huron intimate wedding ended up being so beautiful and special, but it wasn’t an easy road getting there, that’s for sure.  (more…)

    Marysville Michigan Wedding Photography

Jensen and Shaunell were officially our first 2020 wedding we booked- they originally contacted us and we did their engagement session in the fall of 2018! I vividly remember thinking “oh man, this is ages away” but the time came quicker than quick, and we’re so excited to hang out with them again when we did their Marysville Michigan Wedding Photography for their wedding day. • A Post- Covid Wedding in Michigan | Taylor & Justin

Taylor and Justin are another beautiful couple we had the opportunity to get to know when we photographed her sister’s wedding up in Alpena. Last June, Courtney traveled all the way to Illinois (where Taylor and Justin live) and had a blast doing their Chicago engagement photography session, while Megan stayed home with her 5 day old baby at the time. Their wedding was planned for June 2020 at the Inn at St. John’s. But then, 2020 basically fell apart, and the two of them began planning their post- covid wedding in Michigan, elopement style. And the awesome news is, we get to see them next July again, because the plan is to do it all in front of their large group of family and friends next year.

Their tiny wedding was beautiful. They both got ready at Justin’s parent’s home in Livonia, and then took the party bus over to the church for their religious ceremony. The ceremony itself only took about 10 minutes, and then we were off to take some photos on the grounds, and then a nearby park. When we pulled into the parking lot at the park, the sky seriously opened up and it started downpour raining. We kept dancing in the bus, and waited for the rain to pass. It moved through quickly, and we were able to capture some stunning images of the wedding party, as well as the happy (now married!) couple.

After that, they took off on the bus and headed back to Justin’s childhood home for a small dinner that was set up in the living and dining room. Taylor decorated that area entirely herself, and nailed all the beautiful details, from the greenery on the table to the hand written seating cards. We also really loved the antique china place setting, and thought that it added a beautiful element, and a touch of personalization that is unique to them too.

We hope you enjoy this small glimpse into Taylor and Justin’s post- covid wedding in Michigan, and cannot wait to hang out with them all again next year and watch them celebrate their special love story that even a global pandemic couldn’t take down. If you’re in the same boat and want someone to document your wedding day, we would love to chat.

  • Michigan Tiny Wedding | Amber & Michael

You may remember Amber and Michael from their beautiful Lapeer County engagement session that we did on her parent’s property in Metamora. Amber and Michael’s wedding was originally scheduled for mid-May, but then 2020 happened, and…well, plans hit the fan (and exploded into 70 billion little pieces.) Since the entire state was still shut down in May, they decided to postpone their large wedding at their original venue, and return to her parent’s property and do a Michigan tiny wedding instead.
