Fort Gratiot Wedding Photographer | Kayla & Matt

fort gratiot wedding photographerWe spent a wet and rainy Sunday with Matt & Kayla as they tied the knot and was their Fort Gratiot wedding photographer for the afternoon. They utilized one of our custom packages, and they booked us for only 2 hours, but we are thrilled with the photos we are able to capture in that time frame.

The ceremony took place at Fort Gratiot County Park. It was a great location, especially with the new tent they added to their grounds. It came in real handy when the ceremony site had to be moved due to the rain. The ceremony was short and sweet and then we were able to focus on the bridal party, and then just the bride and groom.

The reception was held in the upstairs section at the Raven Cafe so on our way downtown we stopped for photos around downtown Port Huron. Now that our studio is complete we had a terrific backup, but the rain was light enough that we were able to shoot outdoors, which we love. It’s such an exciting time for Matt and Kayla; they are going from Mr. and Mrs. in July, to “Mom” and “Dad” to a little one due in November! We are wishing them all the happiness in the world!

We hope you like this sneak peek into when we were Matt & Kayla’s Fort Gratiot Wedding Photographer and St Clair County Wedding Photography Team. If you’re getting married and are interested in a unique package to fit your needs we would love to talk to you about our custom quotes!

“Rain on your wedding day is good luck because it signifies that your marriage will last. As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie – therefore, when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel!” -Unknown

Port Huron Bean Dock Photographer | Brianne & Dan

Bean Dock PhotographerWe spent Saturday, May 26th celebrating the marriage of Dan and Brianne, being their Port Huron Bean Dock Photographer. Memorial Day weekend brought in a heat wave, but after a long cold spring, we were ready for it! The day couldn’t have been more beautiful with blue skies and plenty of sunshine.

The Bean Dock in Port Huron was the location Dan and Brianne choose for their venue. Both the ceremony and reception were at the same location, which we happen to love, because it saves on travel time, and we get to focus on documenting more special moments. Their priest from Georgia flew in to marry them and gave a wonderful testament to their love. The bride and groom chose to write their own vows, which brought out all the tissues. It was such a personal and sweet ceremony.

We explored the beautiful Blue Water downtown area for photos of the bridal party, and couple portraits. We hit a few favorites and tried out some new spots which is always fun. When Dan and Brianne began dating, Dan worked at Desmond Marine so of course we had to stop there for some photos, and they are some of our absolute favorites. Our area is known for the great waterways, and we were excited to capture some of the water and boats on their wedding day.

Dinner was hosted by Brothers Catering and everything was delicious! There were so many choices of meats and sides, and the best part of all was the ice cream sundae bar. It was so unique, and such a great way to end the night after hours of dancing. Speaking of dancing-it’s usually the daddy-daughter dance that gets our emotions running, but Bri surprised her mom with a special dance to Carrie Underwood’s, Mamas Song and it was such a sweet tribute. Also, doesn’t Brianne look just like Carrie Underwood? She was stunning, and had the most gorgeous beaded dress. We couldn’t stop  ‘ooo-ing and ahh-ing’ over it all night.

If you are looking for a Port Huron Michigan wedding photographer or a Bean Dock wedding photographer, we would love to talk about how Mulberry & Sage can give you a unique photography team experience like no other.

Macomb County Wedding Photographer | Ashley & Eddie

    Macomb County Wedding Photographer

We got to spend April 28th celebrating the wedding day of Ashley & Eddie Medina and being their Macomb County Wedding Photographer team. The forecast called for rain, but we were pleasantly surprised that it missed us completely. The sun even peaked out a time or two, which helped make the chilly spring day more gorgeous! Ashley and Eddie chose clean and classic (but beautiful!) wedding palette of navy, white, and silver. The girls choose any navy dress they wanted so everyone was comfortable and stylish. Eddie wore a navy suit and the guys wore gray with navy ties, for a perfect balance in contrast. White hydrangeas with many variations of white roses made for simple and stunning decor. All together, the whole day flowed perfectly from start to finish and we were so happy to be there to document it all.

One of the benefits of having two photographers is the ability for us to never miss a moment. For photos of the bride and groom getting ready, Megan hung out with Eddie at home, while Courtney met the bride and her girls at a hotel suite. From there, Courtney was able to stay with the bride before the ceremony while Megan captured the guests arriving. Courtney was able to capture Eddie’s face as he first laid eyes on his bride while Megan was able to focus on Ashley on her father’s arm walking down the aisle.  I could continue, but perhaps you get the idea of why two is always better than one.

Ashley and Eddie were married at Trinity Lutheran Church with a reception at Villa Penna. They choose to forgo the typical bridal party photos and allocate that time to just bride and groom portraits at George George Park, and we LOVED it. We were able to focus solely on the new Mr. & Mrs. Medina in a relaxed and un-rushed time frame. After arriving at the reception, the night went on with great food, great music and tons of great times.

Please enjoy this sneak peek into Ashley & Eddie’s wedding day where we had the pleasure of being their Macomb County Wedding photographer. They just arrived back from their honeymoon and we send them the best and warmest blessings and wishes.

Lexington Michigan Engagement Session | Megan & Jim

Lexington Michigan Engagement SessionWe love Megan & Jim’s engagement story and were so thrilled to spend the evening on Sunday being their Lexington Michigan Engagement Session photographer.

They met by chance at Boyne Mountain Ski Resort, even though they grew up in the same town and graduated from the same high school (just a few years apart.) They had a great time together for the weekend, but it took almost a year later for them to start dating. Megan joked it could have been a lot sooner because Jim did invite her for another ski trip soon after they got home, but she thought he was dating someone and turned him down! Once they were officially together, everything clicked into place and they are inseparably bound by their love of skiing, adventure and, of course, each other. Fast forward a few years later on another trip to Boyne mountain; Jim took his sweet time but finally got down on one knee, on Megan’s favorite ski run and asked her to be his wife. The jeweler advised him not to propose on the mountain in fear of losing the ring in the snow, but we are so glad he didn’t listen because it just makes for a great story!

They brought along their black lab puppy Mougle (a ski term, for those who don’t know.) We love including pets, especially one as sweet and outgoing as their little girl. We rode a side by side through wooded trails on Jim’s family property for the first half of the session, looking for the perfect snowy locations. Snow was very important to capture in their engagement photos, so we got them scheduled right away soon as they inquired. The second half of the session was at their gorgeous lake property. The bonfire plays a significance because Megan says she CANNOT go a single night when the weather is right without a bonfire. She just loves the ambiance and warmth and it’s one of their favorite ways to relax at the end of the day.

They are silly yet sweet, and full of that all-consuming love that you can’t help but feel once you are around them. My face hurt from smiling so much. Their Lexington Michigan Engagement Session was the perfect example of why engagement sessions are so important to us. We get to know each other beyond a client-professional relationship and it helps us know what to capture and what’s important in their relationship.

They are still planning the details of their wedding and we are looking forward to what they decide and can’t wait to be a part of it. If you’re looking for a Lexington Michigan Engagement Session, we would love to connect with you.

Shelby Gardens Wedding Photography | Brittany & Dan

    Shelby Gardens Wedding Photography

Last weekend, we had the honor of doing Brittany and Dan’s Shelby Gardens Wedding Photography, and spending the day documenting their fun love story and learning more about who they are, and witnessing their love for each other.

The two of them met at the Mackenzie Tavern bar, so you will notice some photos there that were very important for the two of them to capture, since having photos done there on their wedding day kind of comes full circle for their unique story. Brittany is a librarian and incorporated that with the flowers from Eco Flower had love story page petals, and all the tables at their reception were named after great love story characters.

They had their wedding at the Genesis The Church in Royal Oak, Michigan, and we got to spend some time after their ceremony exploring the city, and finding some fun hidden gems that were tucked away and perfect locations to get creative and artistic during their portrait session time.

We asked Brittany what her favorite moment of the day and she said it was walking down the aisle towards him. When we asked Dan what his favorite moment was, he said it was walking back down the aisle with her after the ceremony. We loved how similar they were, and that they answered that not knowing they both picked moments similar moments before.

Their first dance was to Our Love by Judah and the Lion, and they are actually leaving today for their romantic Jamaican honeymoon.

Dan is the 4th and his family is affiliated with Wesner Tuxedo, and the maid of honor (Brittany’s sister) joked during her speech that they nicknamed him “Tuxedo Dan” ages ago. All the guests were super dapper and well dressed, as well. Shelby Gardens was a beautiful ballroom, and was massive on the inside. We loved the gorgeous little unique touches that Brittany and Dan used to make this beautiful space their own.

We asked Brittany to say why she loved working with Mulberry & Sage Photography, and this was her reply:

“They were fun, laid back and just a blast to work with.  Mulberry & Sage Photography was very accommodating, and had such great ideas for photos. They chose such random spots we would have never thought of, that turned out so beautiful.”
