Lauren and Kyle contacted us and booked Mulberry & Sage to be their Blue Water Convention Center wedding photographer for 2022. In the meantime, they wanted to do a Marine City engagement photography session, and we were thrilled to spend the evening with them to get to know them better. Kyle is Courtney’s cousin, so that’s how we all connected.

Even though Courtney has known Kyle since birth, their engagement photography session was a great way for us to all get to know each other, learn how the two of them fit together for photos, their preferences, and generally hang out more with them. That’s why we love booking engagement sessions before the wedding day, because we don’t walk into a wedding day “blind” on all those matters. We can look at your favorite images and see what you prefer. We can see how the two of you interact, your unique gestures or jokes, and so much more.

Lauren and Kyle met online. He’s a teacher in the area, and she is currently living in Chicago while going to graduate school. She came home for the weekend, and we did their engagement session at her parent’s beautiful home in Marine City. What an awesome place to grow up! It’s right on the river, and has a great dock that we used for photos a bunch, as well as just a great picturesque home in general. The pink door was one of our favorite things, as well as the adorable gazebo with ferns and twinkle lights outside. What a photographer’s dream! The river and boating is special to Kyle and Lauren because he proposed on their boat, too! Towards the end of it, we went to the Marine City beach, the Coast Guard cutter graced us with their presence even, and they played with their feet in the water and embraced the play.
